My wife was married to a US Postal Service employee for 15 years. In the divorce settlement, she was awarded 50% of his accrued pension benefit. If he dies before retiring, does she still receive her portion of the pension? If he keeps working, how can she claim her portion of the pension?

I live on the second floor of an apartment building and the stairs have been broken since we moved in. We were told in March that a contractor was coming out to look at them - nothing has been done. The bolts are loose and the top stair has come loose from the cement connecting it to the breezeway. It swings violently as you walk up and down them. My boyfriend has fallen three times, and today he fell and hurt himself pretty badly, his feet and legs have been bleeding (not seriously) for over an hour.

I called again today, they said they would look at it but I seriously doubt anything will be done. Seeing as how their negligence has resulted in injuries and this major problem has been ignored - what course of action can I take? I'm not interested in suing them, unless something REALLY serious happens, I just want to get out of the complex but I'm still under a lease.

Any ideas on what I can/should do? Thank You!

I work in a one person office, and I was out yesterday. My boss did come in to work this office yesterday while I was out, and I knew that. I don't like this woman to begin with because not only is she completely STUPID but I always felt I couldn't trust her. Anyway, I work in a strip center where other businesses can see into my business. Another employee in another business told me that he had seen my boss digging all through my desk like she was trying to find something. He said she went through the ENTIRE office and was about tearing up everything in my desk, looking though my things. I do understand that this is my company's property and I don't have anything in my desk to get me in trouble anyway, but I feel very violated and offended by this act. Does anyone have any advice or sneaky ways to get back at this evil act? I am about to resign this position anyway to relocate...but any advice on how to get back at this "person"?

i have a co-worker, shes an older lady.we always get stuck in some way or another with her work.she is the receptionist for retirement and she always seems to get backed up with her work so instead of asking us for help, she will complain to her boss about the workload and also to our boss and it puts a heavy burden on the front counter to take on our work and her work.alot of times she doesnt even do her work, she tends to sit at her desk and have her phone forwarded to the front desk for no reason.when i bring it to her attention, she will say she forgot or that shes not on break.well if you arent on break you should be answering your phone.ive talked to my boss and supv. plenty of times but i dont think her boss cares too much.they have backup for her but they choose to use us.i dont want to go to the director so what else should i do?

I've seen similar hats like I want to make in stores and on the internet but can I change the pattern a lot so the hats I make are not identical to someone elses and then sell them? I don't want to do anything wrong.

I've just had an interview for a job I REALLY want, as an Administrative Assistant at a legal firm, and I think the interview went really well, the people were lovely, I answered questions thoroughly & I thought they really warmed to me.

I haven't felt this good about an interview before & I don't get to know the outcome til the end of the week. I don't want to be too disappointed if I don't end up getting it, how can I NOT get my hopes up?! I'm going crazy with a mixture of anxiousness, excitement, hope & pessimism! Help me please!

I recently went in for an interview at a Temp agency. They had me take a test I have never seen in my entire life. It was about Accounts Payable/Receivable and so forth. Ofcoarse I bombed it. I am wondering if someone knows where I can find a free test like this on the internet to sharpen my skills? It was multiple choice and it just asked about 30 to 50 questions about accouting. Thanks

I just went for an interview that came up suddenly because my potential predecessor suddenly passed away from cancer...how would you feel about taking this position???? I don't know what to do...it's creepy! I'll be sitting in her old desk. I went to the office and they have memorial cards everywhere but they're offer is totally worthwhile...If I could get past her passing away.

I was a professional organizer for 1 year and I discovered that I hated the hands on part of my business, and I found myself getting behind in the day to day office tasks that needed to get done. I can't seem to get the desire out of my system though. I still get emails for people wanting my services, but I get more excited about sitting down with them to help them formulate plans rather than actually going through their junk. I also still miss the workshops and public speaking I used to do. Should I try to just do these things, and if so, who do I market to in the public speaking sector. My target audience and passion are homemakers (all kinds).

The current owner of my building asked whether the former owner had returned my security deposit by mistake. The former owner is elderly and senile. I moved in the building in 1990. One of the other neighbors (who has lived there 20 years) says that he returned his deposit and the landlord assumed that he had done the same with me. He didn't. What the old landlord did was give me a check, maybe ten years ago, that he said was "interest" on my security deposit. It was maybe $125.00. I didn't question him. I told this to the current landlord. The current landlord then requested a copy of my original lease with the details of the security deposit. I made a copy and gave it to him. Can he force me to pay a second security deposit? Thank you for any info you could give me.
