I've just had an interview for a job I REALLY want, as an Administrative Assistant at a legal firm, and I think the interview went really well, the people were lovely, I answered questions thoroughly & I thought they really warmed to me.
I haven't felt this good about an interview before & I don't get to know the outcome til the end of the week. I don't want to be too disappointed if I don't end up getting it, how can I NOT get my hopes up?! I'm going crazy with a mixture of anxiousness, excitement, hope & pessimism! Help me please!

A real good friend of mine just went thought the same thing. I told her that everything happens for a reason. If it is meant to be, you will get the job, if you don't then that means something better is waiting for you. She didn't get the one job, but something else landed in her lap a few weeks later and she loves it. Good luck with the job, but don't get your self down if you are not the one they were looking for, something better is waiting for you.

Keep applying! Prepare for the worst. FAGEDDABOUTIT! Act as if you DIDN'T get the job. Keep going. The interview that YOU think was stellar might not have been what they were looking for. I am in the same boat. That friendly smile and talk is a show so they can say they treated everyone the same so they don't get sued. I have had SEVERAL interviews where I thought things went very well, even follow up interviews, and didn't get the job. It all comes down to whether the interviewer(s) liked you or not. You could have years of experience (as I do), but if something you say rubs someone the wrong way, adios. Good luck.

WOW!
Who wouldn't be excited. Just be Hopeful as it is natural to be excited. But to bring you Down a notch, Any Professional business will turn on that warm charm when interviewing prospects. Think about this and I am not trying to be lude, You were not the only candidate for the interview. There were others who may have hardened experience, with excellent references. Also: at times Law Firms like to have at their ready a fresh batch of Assistants for when a big case comes along or are just scouting. Suggestion for when another interview comes along, think about including a photo of yourself being the professional you are.
Hey! wait a sec... I feel you may get a call soon for a second interview. turn on that charm, don't fidget. mimic interviewer. Best Wishes

It is good that you are this excited about the job, but make them know it also by writing a thank you note. You want to hand write this thank you and make sure to point out all the good points of the interview. The quicker you write this and deliver it the better, as it shows initiative. Good luck. What is meant to be will be.

I know that feeling all too well, what I suggest is that you keep on seraching and keep your options open, that way you will be prepared to take the job when and if they do call, and if they don't then you won't be too distracted or wrapped up in the sad news.. I don't usually suggest calling to see if they 'forgot' about you also when or if you don't get a response..lol
even if you ace an interview that doesn't always mean you get the job..it's who you know really..what if the boss's daughter decides she wants the job.?

A good way to quash your hyper, "crazy" hopes...
Just think there's other qualified people vying for the job.
Some with better communication skills, more experience, maybe awesome marks from school and their references might be top notch...
Did that help? Just approach it realistically in a clinical fashion... that should curb your hopes a touch.
Good luck by the way :)) Fingers crossed. Knock on wood.

relax.. focus on your alternatives and wait for the response.
that's the best way..
just sitting around or focusing your entire day on the outcome will just shorten your life.
just get stuff done and make sure you keep your eye out for options if this falls through.. where there's one opportunity there is another... sometimes the other opportunity isn't bad.. that's what we call a mixed blessing.
:D
relax... time will pass and you will know.
but always keep the irons a plenty and hot!

Focus on something else entirely, and everything else will fall away.
