We know that having a Social Security number is voluntary, and yet nearly everywhere you go for work, they ask for a Social Security number. What is all that about? If you don't have one, they look at you as if you had three heads. You can't even join the military unless you have a number. Not sure if the same is true for getting drafted in time of war.

I was shopping at a store when a employee started yelling at me, accusing me of stealing something. Then the manager and other employees surrounded me and yelled accusations and demanded that I return the item.... even though I hadn't taken anything. This went on for over half an hour in full view of other shoppers. They finally let me go after I emptied my pockets. Didn't apologize or nothing. No cops were called.

I complained to the corporate office but they are claiming that the incident never happened and pretty much hung up on me. There were no security cameras.

So would suing them be pointless?

With business larger then ever citizens, in many areas have very little choice of who they are going to work for. Does big business have a responsibilty to provide employees with retirement plans, medical insurance, and other benefits?
Many large business dominate an area and take wealth but give back much less to the community. What is the business responsibility towards a community?
Should legislation ensure that Large business take a more active role in social programs? i.e. Housing, welfare, etc.
If the government mandates that a business take a more active role in local social issues, are we a capitalist state, or somthing other then that?

I got a shot at a very good job. Human resources called me, the man said he would like to offer me a position with the company. However I will be getting a formal job proposal via e-mail and at that time I should give my current job a two week notice. So I guess before I get the proposal they will check out my record and also check to make sure I have my license just in case I should ever need to use a company car. I do have my drivers license but three years ago I was found under the influence and with drugs(more than once) since then I have been good and I am no longer leading that sort of life style. But if asked what shall I say?

I tend to answer the phone a lot at work (the secretery no longer thinks this is her job) and I get screamed at by the clients of another worker in my office. If the person on the other end is nice, I will find the answer for them. If they scream at me, I put them straight to voicemail. Why is it that people seem to think that screaming gets me to work harder for them?

I usually have about $500 bucks in Canadian coins (every year) that I do not want to spend my life wrapping.
- Yes, I have tried the cheap, handsorting, plastic tray system (too much trouble)
- Yes, I have tried the public commercial machines (too expensive with fees of 8% !)

Has anyone heard of a fully automatic sort & wrap machine that costs at most $100?
