I'm a wannabe bartender that just ditched a five-year stint at a desk job. I went to bartending college and have been applying to area bars ever since (I live in Milwaukee, so there's a ton of em). It's been rough finding an employer, though. Part of that, I'm sure, is due to that fact that it's summer and the college kids are all employed full time. But I also wonder...what if just putting applications in at bars is not enough?

So tell me, bartenders: how did you get your first gig? Were you promoted from within? Do you b.s. in your first interview or lie about your experience? Or did you just find the right place at the right time?

I have a great credit history and score, never late on payments, and pay more than the minimum due, but I don't know if I should refinace house, do something with 401k, or get a big loan. I don't know the differnce between credit counseling and debt consolidation, or other options I may have and not even know about, I would love to not have to hurt my credit score... I'm not even considering bankruptcy, just want to get these stupid cards paid off!

Recently, I have established my very own architectural practice, after gaining some experience working for several firms since university. As a two-year project, I’ve set my goal to create a software-based system for most efficiently running projects and as a result have more time to spend on the creative process. Before I employ new people, I would like to have these streamlined and field-tested to perfection. I’m currently running my practice from home.
My problem is this, nobody knows about me. I’ve been lucky enough to get some work, but it’s not enough. With a limited budget, how could I reach the right people without spending all my studio time running around doing public relations? Has anybody had a similar problem and have any suggestions? Should I employ more people immediately and what is the best way to pay them?

On job applications, they ALWAYS ask for the reason of leaving your previous position(s). The reason varies extensively, but how do you answer this kind of question on the job applications, when you don't have good reason. As you know you can't just say you didn't like it.

I made a banking error and the bank charged me over $200 in bank fees because of it. Do you have any suggestions for getting the bank to reverse the fees, short of begging?

I have noticed there's people who apply every where from grocery stores to clothing stores, restaurants, fast food and even extremely easy or crappy jobs and it still takes up to 6 months to find another job.they even reapply constantly. They interview confidently but they're always getting past by in majority of the cases by more experienced people.

I was wondering if anyone has had any success using name squeeze pages on their affiliate sites?

I'm considering doing so to help build my opt-in list but I'm afraid that I'll be losing affiliate sales.

Anyone have any experience here?

Thanks
