I have noticed there's people who apply every where from grocery stores to clothing stores, restaurants, fast food and even extremely easy or crappy jobs and it still takes up to 6 months to find another job.they even reapply constantly. They interview confidently but they're always getting past by in majority of the cases by more experienced people.

I'm talking about people who do a good job at work when they do work and they are able to work for previous employers if they wanted to.Ones who never walked out on a job or failed to do anything they were supposed to do.Just a lack of work experience(haven't been working very long).

I think that the economy has had a great impact on the job market in the last few years. For example, I graduated from college with my BA in May 2003. It took me a full year to find a job! It seemed I was going from interview to interview with no success! I kept thinking who is going to give me a break? It was so frustrating! I have been at my current job for just over 2 years and have been looking for a new job since Sep. 2005 and it seems like I'm getting fewer interviews than 3 years ago! And I have more experience than I had then!

The job market is very though and most places don't want to spend the time or the money to train people when they can hire someone who can jump right in and do the job with little help or training. Now i know your going to say i can't get experience unless they hire me and that is so true. Some places you go will train you for the job but most want workers ready to go out of the blocks. I myself deal poker full time in Vegas and it was so hard to land a good job it took me some time before i got the job i wanted, i first went to dealer school, then i had to deal in a breaking house (that's slang for new people, usually a low level casinos off the strip) where i worked for over 2 years. In the end it took me 6 years until i found my dream job, and let me tell you i went on so many interviews and filled out about a million applications trying to move up. It's just the way of the world, just keep trying if you are running into difficulty and above all else be yourself.

This is directed more toward Pete the Koala. Did you ever consider that the 7-11 you applied at didn't need anyone 3 months ago or your skills didn't fill their needs? Then you rag on your friend Dave for getting a job (a 2nd job) you claim he doesn't need because he has "hidden" away a $1,000. And perhaps he only sells 2 games a month and it is pretty tough to live on $800 a month.
Besides, I am still looking looklng for a good job (with BS, MA & MBA degrees) after several months and have over $33,000 in the bank and I don't feel financially secure. It's all a matter of perspective.

A lot of people who apply for these type of low-income jobs have trouble staying clean. If you know what I mean. They usually need any money at all to support thier habit and it's easy labor. With more and more companies and corporations requiring a drug screening before hiring them, they seem to find it hard to lay off the candy for the necessary amount of time.
Also, experience usually isn't an issue when applying for an entry-level position. You don't need 4 years experience and a college degree to flip burgers. They have to reapply constantly and interview all the time because they lose jobs as fast as they get them. Whether they think they can sleep in a little on Saturday morning or come into work completely trashed. Usually they just can't stay clean.

The economy has forced many people back into the job search market so you are competing with people who already have years of experience. Also, college students are home and high school students are looking to work, so Summertime is the hardest time to find and start a new position. Don't give up. Something will come through. Just keep plugging away.

Have you seen what some of those people put on those applications?? They might be filling out a lot of them but sometime they are not even legible! AND confidence in an interview doesn't mean they have the common sense and ability to perform a job. How much experience do some of those jobs require? Maybe it is just their attitude that the interviewer doesn't like.

i work at mcdonalds, im 16. its okay there i guess. my store is a franchise so i get paid more on hourly rate rather then regular places belonging to the head office. its decent job, bit of hard work but thats makes time go a lot faster which is good. its not bad for first job, cant be too picky but im goin to quit as soon as i find a new job because im kind of sick of it now and its only been a year. the downside is also sometimes customers treat you like sh*t and thinks its fine because you only work at a fast food place and depends on the people who work there or your managers. one of my managers is a total b*tch. but yeah its okay for first job, and ur young so youll have high chance of gettin hired. i think target and walmart are good, you dont get dirty and its not hard but my sister said time went slowly for her because u stand all day swiping items. maybe you should work at mcdonalds for 6 months until ur 15 maybe, then thatll look good on your resume and you can then apply for a better job. im going to be appling for a cinema job, hope i helped.

Maybe they are looking in the wrong fields and maybe they are not what these employers are looking for. Some employers can be very specific on their hiring needs.. i.e. they look for people with certain backgrounds, etc.. Also, there are usually many applicants for these kind of jobs, and so it may not be that easy to find one...
