I'm a guy, with light brown hair which is VERY thick and is about shoulder-length, and really stands out when I use a blowdryer. I have to straighten it just for it to lay down, and get rid of that "poofy" look. My hair flips on one side also, and not on the other when dried naturally. My mom suggests it should be done in layers, and she's thinking about setting up an appointment, though she's waiting for the final verdict from me. I trust my mom's hairdresser completely, my mom gets amazing layered looks from her. Though with my hair, I don't have any idea on what to do! Should I get layers? Would it look better? How many should I get? Once done, how can I make the layers stand out in the morning when I get out of the shower?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks.

well i had micros and my hair broke off, so i got it cut short and have been taking care of it, my hair is growing, its getting longer, but why do people say pretoleum jelly is bad for your hair??? i keep it on my scalp since it tends to be so dry, i also keep olive oil on it, i also use citre shine, it is for white people but it works great on mine. i dont get relaxers either, i flat iron!!!!!

my hair looks great everyone loves it, even the white girls at school!!! i just want to know if i am using good stuff, it seems to be working, also i wanted to know some tips from black girls who have long hair!!!!

My hair was dyed a medium brown with a semi-permanent by a professional three months ago. Yesterday, I went to a salon to have my hair lightened, but she only put the lightener on my roots. She waited until I told her I didn't like that my hair was two different colors, until she said that color won't lift color. She said the only way to lighten my hair would be by putting highlights in my hair to gradually lighten the color. I spoke to the manager, and I'm going back to the salon tomorrow. I want ONE single color in my hair, not highlights! What can they do at a salon to lighten my hair color (that'll cause the least damage)? I had a color correction (I went from a black to a light brown) last year, and she didn't use bleach.

I would get it done at a salon because I know the dangers of it going green, but I wonder if I would get a nice deep colour or if it would look a bit mousy?!

I recently dyed my hair back to light brown after years of highlighting. I need to take a break from it. Color is fine, but it is blah.

I am thinking of dyeing the underpart dark brown. Sort of like when people do blonde and dark brown, but not so dramatic.

What do you all think? Anyone have a pic of the hair I am talking about maybe?

ok, my hair itself is fairly healthy, I maintain it and sometimes have it in braids, but recently, it's gone crazy. I wash my hair and cornrow it (myself) and within a week, it's already itchy, which normally means that my scalp is dry, but when I moisturise it, it REALLY goes crazy and itches like mad, and I end up with some parts of my scalp feeling sore, I wash it, and everything is alright again till I oil it again (which I have to do for afro hair) so am stuck in a catch 22. I have tried deep conditioning with hair mayonnaise, and also MR MIRACLE'S medicated conditioning treatment but that hasn't helped much cos I think the problem is beyond that. any advice on what I should do would be welcomed, I am losing my patience slowly with it!!!!!!!!

I have extremely curly and dry and very very frizzy hair and i could only braid it before after which i rebonded it.Now my old hair is back and it looks very very bushy.I want to control frizz and tame my hair so that at least a ponytail looks good.but to no avail..pantene leave in conditioner defines the curls but makes hair very very frizzy..loreal smoothing serum doesnt work..olive oil/sunsilk leave-in/coconut oil/ all either tame down the hair or make hair softer but the frizzes are still HORRIBLE..i have tried everything..please HELP(hair looks very nice when wet but disgusting when dry)

I am mixed with white/black, i have very curley hair. I have not relaxed it in years. I straighten it with a maxius straightner which works wonders, but as soon as i step outside, *POOF* its all fuzzy ( i live in virginia so their is alot of humidity here). What is the best product to use to stop the humidity from getting my hair all poofy right after i straighten it?
