I would get it done at a salon because I know the dangers of it going green, but I wonder if I would get a nice deep colour or if it would look a bit mousy?!

I have light blonde hair but always dye my hair darker colours .My hairdresser says its easier to dye light hair darker then dying dark hair lighter .My hair has never gone green. My advise would be choose a good salon and go for it :)

If you are going to the salon you will be fine, they can do it as light or as dark as you want.
You're right to go to a salon, there isn't just a danger of it going green either. My friend dyed her hair at home and it went green. Then instead of going to a salon to sort it she went and got another colour. She got a darker brown but it had a slight red tint in it, she ended up with purple hair!
(and it's not true what they say, brunettes have just as much fun!!!)

So I see you are catching up on the trend of dark tresses. Brunette is the new blonde now. You can absolutely go a dark shade without going green. Choose a hair color with a golden, red or neutral tone to it. Stay away from ash colors. It's as simple as that.

You can go to a salon and fork up about $80 dollars, but that's ok if you've got the dough for it, or you can do it at home. I would recommend choosing a dark golden brown, chestnut brown, or a medium golden brown. Enjoy.

whether Ur hair has been bleached or its natural u will need to put some kind of red in Ur hair first as hair has a natural red pigment but in blond hair there is very little which is why u tUrn green if brown is put on straight away. you need the red a a base to allow that to absorb the brown in to Ur hair. U will find that it will take a few months to take completely as red and browns that contain red bleed easily and this gives ur hair a pink colour. i have recently bleach my hair and dyed it neon pink(went to see pink in concert so it had to be done!!)then for Xmas i added a post box red (for the season) to give my hair a base, i have now 2 weeks ago put a warm golden brown, and i have turned a browny mahogany colour and it still bleed the red i have so i know that in 2-3 months time it will go a rich brown colour. also remember to use a good shampoo and conditioner that is designed to keep colour longer.Hope this is of some help xx

You'll need a colour with red in it. It doesn't have to be scarlet red but just a bit of a red shine will prevent it going green. Im personally blonde and love it! If you straighten your hair alot though you can see breakage much more on dark hair as the ends go white. Let a professional do it but remember its harder for you to go back blonde afterwards. Dark hair always shines and looks gorg. Good luck and I hope you like the results!!! Hope this helps :-)

Yes it is - I did it a couple of months ago and it really worked! However I would really recommend going to a salon to get it done, to avoid getting a washed out look or even worse, it getting a pink tinge (if the colour has a red base to it, this can happen). After it has been done once, it should be easier for you to retouch at home as necessary. Good luck!

it is possible to go from light to dark really easy. what the salon will do is put a dark brown on then treat the hair with a hot oil treatment. then you can have the chosen colour put onto that. it can b a bit pricey but worth it as the colouor tends to change if put straight onto blonde, and as you sadid go green. i hoped that helped and hop the new look suits you.

It is possible, but go to a salon and have it done..Doing it yourself will only give you problems, which in turn will cost you more to fix it..After a persons hair is blonde, the hair has been stripped of it s natural pigment and has to be put back in..To go Dark you need a orange-red pigment put back in before you color it with a brown..Thats why it important to have a professional do it for you..Its worth it to spend the money and have it done right.

Yes its possible much easier if you are natural blonde going dark, just need to be careful if you're a bottle blonde going dark, most hair dyes in shops explain this on box so choose carefully, i was a bottle blonde and now a deep rich chestnut brown, which i done myself and love results but almost ruined my new bathroom lol

if you go to a good colourist, you can get a very rich colour. it is much easier to colour light hair dark than to lighten dark hair. hair turn green comes from home products or over processing. it can be fixed with a colour toner after the hair is rinsed. i had a client who was almost platnium blonde and she would colour her hair different shades of black. then she had it lightened for her wedding. it is possible if you go to a salon and your hair is not over processed.
