ok, my hair itself is fairly healthy, I maintain it and sometimes have it in braids, but recently, it's gone crazy. I wash my hair and cornrow it (myself) and within a week, it's already itchy, which normally means that my scalp is dry, but when I moisturise it, it REALLY goes crazy and itches like mad, and I end up with some parts of my scalp feeling sore, I wash it, and everything is alright again till I oil it again (which I have to do for afro hair) so am stuck in a catch 22. I have tried deep conditioning with hair mayonnaise, and also MR MIRACLE'S medicated conditioning treatment but that hasn't helped much cos I think the problem is beyond that. any advice on what I should do would be welcomed, I am losing my patience slowly with it!!!!!!!!

Hi. I take it that you have natural hair. If so , good! What are you using to oil your hair? I only use pure oils - a combination of coconut, rosemary and tea tree. Also, Vitamin E is good for itchy scalp. How often are you oiling your hair? Afro hair really only needs oiling once a week. Make sure that you drink 2 litres of water a day and how is your diet? You need to look at that as well if if isn't healthy.

Try Neutrogena T-gel shampoo...
ALso when I feel itchy.. I apply coconut oil-unrefined-organic (you can buy in ebay, holland and barret) in my itchy scalp, it really calm your itchy scalp, you can apply all over your hair as well.. make your hair shinier.. then 30 minutes later, wash your hair as usual..

See your doctor, applying all those different products can lead to sensitization, particularly after having braids which may have been too tight.
