Photography

It is a grey box camera (w/ a wood tripod) 6" x 8." The maker is Andrew Loyd (I'm not sure if this is supposed to be Lloyd). Were box cameras in wide use during the Civil War? or was it just cameras with bellows.
When you have a box camera I know that you probably will need a cloth to act as the shutter, but do you need a cloth cover the back of the camera?
Do cameras with bellows produce the best images, or is it possible to get a decent photo with a box camera?

I was looking at the following links and i was curious as to what the possible effect is being used in these photos??? is it photoshop or a specific kind of camera.
The images look very very clean and almost painted.

We found it in the basement of the house my family just bought.Rumor has it that this house used to belong to a mafia family before we bought it and the old man that died was in the mafia.My family doesn't think that this man looks the part but I do.We are guessing it to be from the 1940's all the way me up to the 1960's.Can anyone tell?

I've been researching DSLR's for months, reviewing and comparing camera prices and when compared to most recognizable businesses and online businesses, conoga camera seems to have the best prices. On average their prices are $200, sometimes up to $400 cheaper than say, a wolf camera or B&H. For example, the Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM is sold for $1,999 at wolf. This same lens, the cadillac of Canon lenses, is sold for $1,684 on canogacamera.com. Are these prices too good to be true, or is this the place I should buy my camera gear? Has anyone done any business with canoga? If so, were you satisfied? I'd really love some guidance, and as always, thank you for your input.

Let's assume you have unlimited battery and unlimited memory, just for kicks.

Personally, I think I'd photograph a lot of sunrises and sunsets and interesting landscapes and buildings, mostly sunsets, of those.

Hello, i have a client www.shopbalagirls.com their photographer is shooting all of the products in front of a white sheet. The company does not have a lot of money, but we are looking for ideas for a white background. If we go to a camera store they are going to tell us to buy a crap load of lights and background stuff. I just bought Sigma 10-20mm lens. Took a couple of pictures of my front yard and at 10mm my car turned out quite stretched (looked funny) in them. I was wondering if it is a normal effect for wide-angle lenses or is it more of a defect. If it is normal, how can it be corrected in Photoshop? Thanks.

I found this old film, and I'm not bothered to go and get it developed, but I still want to know what's on it. Is there anything I can do to bring up the images onto the film so I can hold it up into some light and look at them like you do with negatives? I want to do this at home, not bothered to buy anything for this task, like special development fluid or anything. If anyone knows a way to do this, let me know, otherwise, it's going in the bin.

I have had Picasa for 3 years now and have been delighted with it. Now istarted freezing every time I try to open it so I can't use it or any of my photos.I have to close to PC completely before I can get back into any other programs. I can't download new photos into it. I have most of my photos in PIcasa, so I am rather upset. It is Picasa 2. Please help.

My printer is an HP Photosmart 3210. I've calibrated, cleaned the ink heads, and made every possible maintenance to the printer. Ran the tests and they come out good.

When I try to print a picture, the picture prints out much darker than it appears on the screen.

Any ideas?
