UCR has botanical gardens they are nice and it's free..umm i think you should take a drive to huntington library it's in Arcadia..but sooo beautiful... I"m sorry to edit again but you can try the local nature ceters also, I think the closest one is in Fontana off of sierra, I know there are others but i can't think right now .. hope it helps though

What about Mission Inn in Riverside? There's a garden nearby where they have an original tree of some kind too... I can't remember the details right now but I just read something about it and I'm sure a docent there would know exactly what it is! Anyway, good luck!

Why don't you trek Santa Rosa Plateau above Murrieta/Temecula. Its a close drive. Go down the 15 freeway (south)and get off on Clinton Keith exit-drive it up to the ranger station. Its beautiful and a nice hike day. Plenty of good shots and I know several artists groups also use it. Also the flower fields in Carlsbad are fab this time of year and the San Diego Wild Animal park would offer much more than just animal photos-it planted beautifully!

I would suggest water during the sunset. Either go to the beach or a lake nearby. Or you can always take pictures of clouds and the sky.
