Visual Arts - March 2007

Ok, I've tried making a block of Plaster of Paris and then sculpting it, but that just didn't work. So, does anyone have any ideas on what I could use to make a block of something relatively stable, without being too hard to work with, to sculpt with? I'd like to try my hand on something easy to work with before I go for the harder mediums like marble or concrete, etc... I'd like to know what other people are using. Any ideas will be entertained, thank you.

There sooo cool but it is sooo hard to figure out what they're made out of! Why do we use it? don't we have pens (erasble as well)....

I'm an aspiring anime artist. I really want to be succesfull and become one of the best. But whats really tricky is that when I see somebody's anime art thats well..better I feel as if "HOW AM I GOING TO DO THAT!?" and I'm not shure what I should do next. I'm pretty much tangled up in a huge mess. My goal is to learn Japanese and move to Japan and start to get known there.. but how? I live in the USA, and I'm an exotic blend of cultures... I don't really think I'll fit in Japan; I don't look Asian and besides I don't think there's ever been an anime artist thats well known, who has an exotic mixture of cultures. I'm been well known in my two schools I've been in. and I try to spread my name as much as I can. I have fans ^-^. I have Asian friends. I'm just really confused and I really don't know what I should do, to achieve my goal and dream. Please help!

a myspace layout for my boyfriend, that has both skateboards and skulls in it. he wants it to have black in it, but I can't find anything. If anyone can find a layout specifically like this, not just a layout site, I would really appreciate it.

I am doing a project & have to draw Zimbabwe's flag. There is a star on it & I want to make it look as neat as possible (without erasing a whole lot). Any tips would be very helpful.

I got a cigar box at an antique shop, which they didn't know anything about this box. I didn't pay too much for it. I blown away by the hand curved details on the box. It seems so old and on the bottom of box reads HECHO A MAHO HONDURAS C.A ( Used a red hot metal to curve the above words)
I just want to learn more about this box or is there a history or story behind the curvings.

I want to know what equipment i need so i can create some quality transfers that i can then heat press onto items of clothing. I know you can buy the paper in shops and do it through a normal printer but those prints dont last when they get washed. What other methods are their? Do i need a special printer? if so what is it called? please help.

Can anyone out there help? I have just been given a very large (90'' x 30'' x 50'') carved wooden hallstand with 2x adult bears + cub climbing a tree, at the base is a silver tray.
I would like to do some research on it, but without knowing its correct name I cant find it on the internet.

Why can people sell picture of celebrites without a signed release, but cannot sell pictures of a "regular" person without a release?
