I'm doing a history project and I wanted to build a model of a Chinese monument. What would be the best materials to use? I'm not sure if plaster works and I can't think fo anything else so please help. Give me some suggestions

it really depends what you are going for. Do you need detail or not? What size do you want?
You can carve wood. You can make a solid block of plaster and carve that. You can use clay (oven bake is probably easier if you don't have access to a kiln).
You can use tooth picks.
You can use that insulating foam which comes out of a can and carve that once it's set.
you can use a block of styrofoam and carve that.
you can use toy bricks.
you can use stiff cardboard, paint and paper glue.
you can use plywood, wood glue and paint.
you can use salt dough.
you can use spaghetti or linguini - after all they are just a bit like long tooth picks...
and you can use your imagination for more options...

Hey Look At,

Polymer clay is fantastic. Not messy, easy to mold, shape, add to, and dry at low heat in an oven (well vented). The clay can be worked in a Spagetti maker to flatten it, then cut with a dull knife to make shapes. You can form it in molds, or just do it by hand with various implements. What you see is what you get in the end. Outstanding medium, will last as long as you take care of it.

Glues with a liquid form of itself, sold at most hobbie stores. Here are some sites.

Flour, glue, and water. Take strips of newspaper and make a model out of that. you need to make a base and stuff out of carboard or something first though.

Good Luck!
