I'm a university student, in a university with a sort of lackluster theatre program. I took over a club on campus that is for theatre, but I have no idea what I'm doing and the previous leader of the group is already long gone, as are many of the original members. And please bear in mind that I'm working with absolutely nothing. I mean, I have a few interested students that seem dedicated... but I have no money, and sort of limited resources myself.

Also, if you know of any improv games to use in rehearsals, I'd love to know about that. I know a few, but there are some that I don't remember.

Hey guys,

Tonight was the dress rehearsal for the first play I have ever been in. It debuts in 3 days.

I have to wear a dress with boots and I thought it looked ok, but I got lots of critiques from the director and other cast. I know it's not comments about me personally, it's about my character and how she should look, but I am finding it so hard to differentiate between the two.

This is the first play I have ever been in, it's a community production, quite small.

I would so dearly love to hear of stories about other people and how they dealt with this kind of stuff. Particularly women.

I am 29.

Bets wishes,
RCDB.

Shall I compare thee to a summer's day? a
Thou art more lovely and more temperate: b
Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May, a
And summer's lease hath all too short a date: b

Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines, c
And often is his gold complexion dimm'd; d
And every fair from fair sometime declines, c
By chance or nature's changing course untrimm'd; d
But thy eternal summer shall not fade e
Nor lose possession of that fair thou owest; f
Nor shall Death brag thou wander'st in his shade, e
When in eternal lines to time thou growest: f

So long as men can breathe or eyes can see, g
So long lives this and this gives life to thee. G

The studio was filled with the rich odour of roses, and when the light summer wind stirred amidst the trees of the garden, there came through the open door the heavy scent of the lilac, or the more delicate perfume of the pink-flowering thorn.
From the corner of the divan of Persian saddle-bags on which he was lying, smoking, as was his custom, innumerable cigarettes, Lord Henry Wotton could just catch the gleam of the honey-sweet and honey-coloured blossoms of a laburnum, whose tremulous branches seemed hardly able to bear the burden of a beauty so flamelike as theirs; and now and then the fantastic shadows of birds in flight flitted across the long tussore-silk curtains that were stretched in front of the huge window, producing a kind of momentary Japanese effect, and making him think of those pallid, jade-faced painters of Tokyo who, through the medium of an art that is necessarily immobile, seek to convey the sense of swiftness and motion. The sullen murmur of the bees shouldering their way through the long unmown grass, or circling with monotonous insistence round the dusty gilt horns of the straggling woodbine, seemed to make the stillness more oppressive. The dim roar of London was like the bourdon note of a distant organ.
In the centre of the room, clamped to an upright easel, stood the full-length portrait of a young man of extraordinary personal beauty, and in front of it, some little distance away, was sitting the artist himself, Basil Hallward, whose sudden disappearance some years ago caused, at the time, such public excitement and gave rise to so many strange conjectures.

I'm a teen who loves to act but I have this thing where I only want to audition for the things i want to audition for. And see, most of the reasons is because i sort of have a physical disability, lets just say I cant extend my right arm- it's at a certain angle..in life it's not a huge deal because it's not like I'm handicapped I can do things. I've been in a couple of plays before where I had more than a supporting role.. but when it comes to auditioning for plays..like musicals that has dances for instance, i want to- but i feel like I can't..I've been told i'll never know what they'll think of my arm but i just get nervous about it.

And the musical Snow Queen that's going to be holding auditions tomorrow at night but I do not know what to do! my friends and family keep pressuring me to audition for anything I can to get the hang of it but i have all these mixed feelings. Please help? and this is serious so no silly answers please.

This is the play I'll be performing in, but I have no idea who my character is, and I was wondering where I could find the script for this play, or even for Lady in Yellow. All I know is she's talking about how she lost her virginity.
Thank you in advance!!!!!!

So I'm making the move to LA after highschool and I'm going to be going to college to major in theater arts and take acting classes. So I need a little advice on choosing Acting classes, what I need to do before seeking an agent and how to find one, how to find a photographer to get my headshot done and how to find out about auditions. Basically I just need to know everything that I need to do. Now aside from all that, I also need to deal with the moving process to LA or just moving to another state period. This will be my first time being on my own once I make the move so I need some guidance on everything I need to do before and after I move out to LA in order to make my moving process as smoothly as possible. So any advice will be really appreciated.

My friend told me about this play she saw at some convention (I'm not sure what it was) called Are You Afraid of the Dark. It didn't have anything to do with the nick show, lol. She said that they turned all the lights off, so it was really just people talking and not exactly a play, but I don't know what else to call it. She also said it was about rape, which confused me.
Has anybody ever seen/been in/or heard of it?

To explain, I have a Theatrical Arts teacher at my high school, he is one of my favorite in the entire school, a truly amazing educator. But up until now, I thought maybe he was a little more fair, and just than he really is.
He chooses favorites, now he would never admit to it, but he does. So when he is casting a play, it's the same people every time, and it's for all of the wrong reasons. I don't consider myself a seasoned critic, but the last play he cast had a terrible lead who was constantly falling into his old acts. There were so many other hopefuls with much better skills, but for some reason, he didn't pick them.
A rule in theatre is that if you have to coach your character out of one of their past roles, you shouldn't be wasting your time on them.
My teacher is a great guy, but how do I show him that there are better people out there, how do the actors and actresses as a group make him realize that he can't pick favorites if they aren't any good?

Does anybody know where I could find a monologue from Spamalot? It doesn't have to be any particular one-just where I could find one.
