I am a good actor (I think I am..) but I don't think a school musical is big enough for scouts to show up, so where do they show up?

Talent Scouts are scams and they show up at the mall looking for unsuspecting suckers who will give them money.

The school musical is fine to add to your resume when you're first starting out. Also look into community and regional theatre. You can also audition for professinoal theatre if you breakdown for any roles they need. Once you have a decent resume there try for some student and indie filme roles. If you happen to land any really great roles outside of school, invite agents to come see you perform. Send them a pic, red & a cover letter and see if you get any bites. If not, keep working on building your resume.

You should be training as well. Stay in classes (acting, dance & voice).

Check out www.backstage.com (casting search) and www.actorsaccess.com for audition info. You can also see if your state has a film alliance / commission / society or whatever your state calls theirs (some have more than one). Sometimes they post audition information for projects filming locally.

If you want to find a legitimate agent to represent you for commercials, TV & film go to Sag.org. Use the dropdown menu on the right labeled 'resources' and choose 'agent information'. On the next screen, on the left choose 'Find a SAG franchised agent' and follow the directions.

good luck!

i do no longer understand something approximately modelling, purely that this is have been given no longer something to do with appearing. There are no appearing scouts as such - theatrical brokers in many situations bypass to the staggering exhibit which enormous drama colleges placed on in London on the tip of a three-year appearing course, and somewhat some newly qualified actors get signed up then. devoid of having experienced right, there is somewhat little danger of ever getting any appearing paintings in any respect. Even then, it takes years of stressful paintings, a severe expertise, decision, intelligence, the potential to act in each form of paintings from television to action picture, somewhat some point and have the potential to appreciate Shakespeare, Greek tragedy, present day performs, each thing. via the sound of it, you would be greater powerful off attempting modelling.

They only show up at carefully organized showcases done by the very best of univeristy and private acting schools.

There really aren't any talent scouts anymore. The ones I mentioned are agents and casting directors actually.

School theatre may not seem important to you, but it is the foundation of your acting career, so get as much of it as you can.
