Aristotle notes that imitation is innate in humans(it is in all primates for that matter) and that it is fun. Children's dramatic play teaches us a very important lesson about acting. That it is very easy to do and that it is enjoyable to do. That is why so many people want to be actors. (The fame and fortune notwithstanding) And it is why acting training like The Method are 'way off base in creating effective actors. It is my hope that all actors will remember to have fun when acting and to make it a simple, natural thing without a lot of stress and soul searching.

I think it's a great way for them to express their imagination. It makes them feel grown up, to be able to act like mom and dad, or be who they want to be. Dramatic play is a very important part of a childs life.... along with math/manipulative, social interaction, language/reading, and sensory.
