Theater & Acting - July 2007

I don't have any talent, i take voice lessons but my parents don't have a lot of money... and i don't have a job so i can't take acting lessons. I tried to get a job in my town for my plan.

Okay, my old plan was...

o1.To get a job so that i could get a new voice teacher (because mine always cancels)


o2.After i was done with voice i would start taking acting lessons, and maybe some kind of comedy lessons too.

o3.Get an agent and join some plays.

o4.Try out for some movies or tv shows.

But because i don't have a job i can't get famous. I'm 13... and i don't want to be "the next disney channel star" i don't even like disney, but anyway i want to be the next young Sarah Silverman!

Oh and if you bother to comment DON'T say "you don't want to be famous" or "don't be like Sarah Silverman" because if i get any of that crap i will report.

I absolutley love acting. Although I haven't acted in much other than in movies made by my friends and I, people say I'm good at it. I'm still very young, only 14 years old, and am starting high school this year. I'm serious about this, this is what I want to do. I understand that rejection is likely, but I will keep at it even if I am rejected. I live in a small town in a state (Alaska to be exact), that isn't as wide open as other places in the U.S. to have good oppurtunity in acting. I understand that I will have work to very hard, and that's what I'm planning on doing, but I would like to know how to start an acting career and how to build up from there. Any help is appreciated.

I have stopped my engineering degree inorder to carry on with my passion and dream for acting, what should i do get into this profession since i am new and i dont know from where to start,suggest any good acting courses in chennai and what the are other things required to train myself lk the portfolio and all the other kinds of stuff....tell me how long will it take and all the things required to shape myself...

How can I find theaters where I can perform acting on stage in my community? I live in Rancho Cucamonga. I'm in the entertainment business and I don't have much on my resume so I would like to have more work shown on my resumer. Can anyone tell me how I can find where plays are held at?

Hi guys,
I writing a short one-act play for a school show case night this coming year and I'm in kind of a writing jam. Here's the deel one of the charteres is a "wangster"(white ganster wanna-be). He likes another charterer, an all-american girl named Muffy, and has decided to impress her by making up a rap about her. The only thing is I don't know the first thing about rapping so I was hoping some AMAZING person out there could write it for me. I'm not picky about it all I ask is that
1.) It's CLEAN (this is for a school production)
2). It has the name Muffy in it
3.) Keep it short no more then 10 lines

I am an older (50 years old) actor looking to break in, but if you are not in the union (SAG or AFTRA or Actors Equity) and don't have an agent, you are not allowed to audition.
However, you are not allowed to join a union unless you have been in union productions, and no agent will even speak to me. Not even for 5 minutes, as I have requested many times.

This is a very unfair system as keeping people from trying out is a main function of these people.

Does any one know how to get an agent to even see you? Please don't tell me cliche things like "Do something to get noticed". I have tried various things to get attention and even had the police called once.

ok heres my dilema, im an actor living in Los Angeles (or...well, trying to be anyways) and my natural hair color is a strawberry blonde (i have fair skin, and some freckles), and just recently I was accepted into a theme park acting as a character, the job pays great and is alot of money...the only drawback...my hair needs to be black to fit the character description, and wigs wont do.

my question really is, as an actor trying to get cast as an extra or get represented into an agency, would it be wise to have a hair color that isnt my natural color? its not that I look "bad" with black hair, its just obviously not natural what with my fair complexion and freckles. Would that affect my chances of getting acting jobs? What do you guys think? Its alot of money but if it will impact my acting career then I might not want to do it.

I have acted in productions in high school and college. I have not pursued any professional acting role but always thought that it would be fun. I do not have any formal training, but have found that I do have some natural ability. Does anyone have any advice, in this area, for someone with little "resume" experience? I am looking especially for advice from those that are currently working or have worked in this industry, though any advice would be greatly appreciated.

We just got the tix to WIcked, and we have tix in row zz of orchestra seating and its house left of center....

Idk whether 2 go 2 college for acting or meteorology. Acting looks like is would be great. u kno- have a family-like cast, getting to act like someone u are not, being in the spot light. To me, that's living large. It's living the dream. I am so outgoing and have had numerous people tell me that I belong in Hollywood. But I'm scared that I will be a struggling actress. Right now, I barely know any of the terms that actoresses use..ex. screen testing. Idk if i want to go to college and then fail at being an actress and waste ALL that money when I could have been successful in meteorology. Meteorology would be cool. But I get excited, anxious, hyped-up, and EXTREMELY nervous when i think about acting. I don't want to settle for sumething. w/ going w/ acting, i wouldnt be settling. I have 1 life. People say to live the dream. acting seems to be my dream. What if acting doesnt work out, then i will be 1000s of $ in debt because of college & not be able to go to meteorology. wat should i do
