Get involved in community theatre and take classes outside of school. Your class may be great but it also may be very limiting. Don't leave it to chance and have your 45 minute class be your only outlet.

Do an audition search on backstage.com. You have to pay to get all of the info, but the initial search is free and you may be able to see enough info to find out the rest on your own without paying by looking up the theatre's own site. They usually have the audition info posted as well as what shows are coming up.

You can also start an improv group after school. If your teacher turns out to be a good one, see if he/she will help you sponsor a new club! You can look up tons of improv games in the library and online and your teacher can help guide you through them if he/she's willing. If not, you may be able to do it on your own, but there are improv classes out there that will help you overcome a lot of typical acting fears and hangups.

Good luck!

OK, I just saw the other answer and I have to add DO NOT GO TO JOHN ROBERT POWERS. It is a scam. Check out these links to start and do your own search for John Robert Powers Scam and see what pops up. They lie and take people's money, plain and simple.

I've done some plays and they are really fun and they are a good way to start as a young actress. Be sure to build up your confidence (it really helps). Do simple mirroring exercises and practice moving. Stay in shape too cause you'll never no if you'll have some moving around. Practice your facial expressions (happy, sad, shocked, ect.) Write a script or read aloud from a book and use alot of emotion when you are doing it. Re-watch a TV show and speak some of the lines that the character says in the way they say it. (Hey, they're pros!) I hope this helped. I wanna be an actress when I grow up too so, good luck!! :)

i would be blunt. you're unlikely to be a known actress. the percentages are extraordinarily stacked against you. go get lunch in l. a., and you will meet greater advantageous than one actress/waitress who should be the subsequent megastar. To be effortless, your odds are even worse. Now that Sandra Bullock is a megastar, she would be in a position to be picky approximately what she does. An actor who has not made it huge takes any and each plausible place, hoping to get observed. If meaning making a music on a cat foodstuff commericial, you do it. in basic terms being in one instruct isn't a sturdy initiate. some known actors make huge funds, however the rest won't be in a position to even help themselves with performing. Are you going to be the only in a million who hits it huge? probable not. in case you go the medical music, you will possibly be able to make a sturdy residing. whether you won't be in a position to extremely make it into medical college, you are able to visit PA college or NP college or get your MSN, and you will make a sturdy residing.

well that's a good start. but if you want to be a success and have good acting parts, you might want to consider an acting class. like john robert powers for instance. they've had many successful actors and actresses. they get you auditions and classes to take for your soon to be acting career. and no, they're not phoney. i personally had got call backs for the new movie, "bratz" but didn't quite make it. but one of my friends in the acting class did. so i wouldn't say they're phoney. it does cost alot though. so just keep practicing in front of huge audiences, make up some monolougues, get into plays, and you'll be on your way.

practice some expressions in a mirror (silly but works) try simple lines but put emphases on different words.

Ex. did Jon Tell You That?
DID Jon Tell You That?
did JON Tell You That?
did Jon TELL You That?
did Jon Tell YOU That?
did Jon Tell You THAT?
Print out some script from the net and practice them.

Observe other people. Become an eagle-eyed observer of human behavior--body leads, mannerisms, voice patterns, etc.
