what is the difference between traditional dance and modern dance?

Does anyone have any thoughts, tips, or ideas for or against why I should try out belly dancing? It seems as though it's a great way to stay in shape and just and overall fun idea to try.

Does any one know that which area or country, they do accept international students as the ballet or modern dancer?
It also included in private dance studio which provide the trianing or advanced level for the international students. (plz be specific the name of the private dance studio ) thx !

On the DVD Great Pas de Deux, there is a song played during the title menu. It's very dramatic and beautiful, but isn't in any of the dances they show. What is that song?

I cant do the splits!! I go as far as I can then try to force myself to go further but its too painful. Any tips for me to be able to do them? I have to be able to do them in about 4 months. I try everyday but I can never get any lower. Help plz!!!

i have to try out for a dance team on March 24th. we have to be able to do the splits (right and left), grand jetes (right and left), and a double piroette. the only thing i can do on that list is the pioroette! in my splits, i am EXETREMELY far away from the floor. approx. 10 in. (pleez don't make fun). i stretched for like an hour tonight. i am afraid that no matter how much i stretch, i won't be able to do the splits, therefore, not be able to make the team. i REALLY want to be on the dance team though! any thoughts? did any of you get ur splits in a month or less? is that even possible without hurting yourself? if u did, how long did you have to stretch every day?

I kinda need a few pointers. I haven't cheered in a while, so my skills aren't as sharp as they could be. When I was cheering it was always an all-star squad. But when it comes to school try-outs I never make it. Any ideas?

1) i can dance but everyone thinks i cant cuz i get shy and stiff around people who i feel uncomfortable dancing around! any way to get over this shyness?? i really want to be able to show off this saturday at dance auditons....

I need to know some ways to loose some stomach fat and some leg mass. I am getting a ring right above my hips of extra fat. Also my thighs from all the swimming I do are very muscular. Now I am a ballerina so I can't be doing excericises that are going to make me look like a soccer player. Excercises and food suggestions would be good. I need some help looking like a ballerina again.

I'm nearly 15 years old and i have always felt so silly 2 go up and dance and i have no idea why! I mean i am a dancer myself and i did a dance at this disco but i just don't have the guts to go up there its soo stressful because they all looks so good doing it! i really want to overcome this! and feel confident! but how?? i mean i felt so silly :(

I tried out and didnt make it last year, so I joined an all-star team, then I quit that so I'm a little my skills are a bit rusty. I'm wanting to start preparing myself in at least one month in advance. I know what I need to be sharpening up on. Those skills are jumps, balance, strength, and tumbling. Any advice?
