I kinda need a few pointers. I haven't cheered in a while, so my skills aren't as sharp as they could be. When I was cheering it was always an all-star squad. But when it comes to school try-outs I never make it. Any ideas?

Never where jewelery, flip-flops, false nails, or anything that can be a hazard in your tryout. You should always keep all of your supplies in a gym bag and it will help to keep your tight jeans and skirts at home. Always have socks, tennis shoes, shorts or sweat pants, and a t-shirt when at practice, nothing that hugs the body because you need to be able to move around freely without worrying if your new jeans or new shirt will rip. I'm ALWAYS glad to help anyone who needs it.

The most important thing is a positive attitude. You may not think that the way you look is important, but it really is. You need to wear school colors and make sure your clothes fit well. Shorts not too long or too short. No spagetti straps. If your hair is long, pull it back and put a ribbon in it. No nail polish. Wear just a little lip gloss and mascara and blush... that's it! Wear small footie socks with your tennis shoes. Work on your jumps and make sure they are as high as possible. Don't concentrate on the form so much as the height. Make sure your voice projects and you are not screaming. And most importantly SMILE the entire time... have good eye contact with the judges and make them think you know exactly what you are doing. Make sure you are respectful to all adults and others that are trying out. You'll make it this time.... make sure to let me know if you do! Good luck!

Smile, show enthusiam and basically lots of cheer! Tight arms and legs, not loosey goosey and try hard. Try especially with the smiling and cheer though. It's called cheerleading for a reason!

Its not about talent. Its about looks and popularity. If you dont make it at first, then you never will. Sad but true.
