There are two meaning that I know to the word Milonga: one means just a faster paced Argentine Tango. There are special dance steps that work better for Milonga than for regular Argentine Tango, but simply put - Milonga is a faster Argentine Tango. The other meaning of Milonga is a Tango party or Tango social, i.e. dance event where they play Tango music for people to dance to.

Milonga is an Argentinian and Uruguayan form of music, as dance, "as the term for the place where tango is danced." The term milonga comes from a similar expression that means "lyrics." Milonga is also the term given to a tango party,
while Tango Dancing is a social dance and a form of couples dance with a rich tradition and history. It has captured the popular imagination with the image of a man and woman dancing dramatically.

About the same as the difference between quickstep and foxtrot. Many of the steps are the same, but the tempo and the feel are different.
