My daughter's a preschooler and has been attending baby dance lessons on Saturdays held at a local dance college which does dance courses all the way up to A Level standard. She loves dance classes (which is why she wanted me to put her in one in the first place), and from what I see they seem to mainly focus on tap dancing and ballet. Thing is, when she's 6 she will have to choose what kind of dance she wants to major in and the college does courses in "Rock School"(which is a type of ballet-like dance, not the same as the TV's "Rock School" programs about making rock music!), "Jazz Dance", "Modern Dance", "Ballet" and "Tap". I live in the UK and can't seem to find any good dance videos out there for children which showcase all the different types of dances. How do I help her choose the right kind of dance for her? (She definitely hates "Tap" dancing that's for sure, she told me...)

She once went to a dance school in Bridlington where we used to live ( it wasn`t a special needs school ) and the teacher there asked her to show her a sample of her work(she does all her own choreography) - she was amazed! She said that if you couldn`t see that she was downes then you certainly wouldn`t be able to tell by her dancing.
We have now moved and I can`t find a local dance school or theatre group. I really want to help her in her chosen career as she really enjoys it and she is very dedicated - she practises her routines every day without fail.
We live in Peterlee , county durham - anyone got any ideas?

I have a dance preformance on tuesday and I managed to smash my foot into a suitcase last night, now it's bruised and swollen, (not sprained luckily) but It hurts a bit to walk (and to dance!) and I'm worried about fitting into my tap shoes (I'm doing both Jazz and tap). Any suggestions of what I should do??

Ok, so I admit I'm completely corny but I've been watching those YouTube clips of people doing famous dances at their wedding receptions and I think it looks like fun. (Thriller would be too much for me, but I really liked the Dirty Dancing one). Any ideas on a great dance from a music video or movie that would be fun to do at my wedding reception in December?

I take Highland dancing but it seems like most peope don't even really know what it is or they will confuse it with step dancing. Who else here loves highland dancing? and if you do love it what is your favourite dance and why?

I want to learn how to breakdance before my school dance in one month, nothing really hard, just something basic like a six-step or handstand/freeze type stuff. How can I learn some crowd-appealing yet simple moves? (I already know how to do the worm don't suggest that)

btw i'm pretty skinny, not a lot of upper body strength, keep that in mind

I'm at an intermediate-beginning stage. Just looking for your thoughts on cuteness-factor. I know neither shoe is all that glamorous, but this is for lessons and practice. Would love opinions. Thanks!!!

(PS I already have the Closed Toe X-Strap but found the heel is a little too high for me.)

I am 13, starting Ballet next year, at 14. I will be having Ballet Class for beginner for 1h/week in the nearby Comunity Club. Do you think it is enough? I wish to extend the lesson, but not sure if it is possible that I go for two different Ballet lesson a week because they are autually learning the same thing as we do or in some cases, learning slower than mine. But the biggest problem is they don't seem to have a Teen's Class and they rarely start a Ballet Grade 1 Class. It is usually pre-primary and primary classes meant for children. I only can get 1h/week lesson! But I wish to learn till Ballet Grade 8 and be a Ballet teacher!
