Ok, so I admit I'm completely corny but I've been watching those YouTube clips of people doing famous dances at their wedding receptions and I think it looks like fun. (Thriller would be too much for me, but I really liked the Dirty Dancing one). Any ideas on a great dance from a music video or movie that would be fun to do at my wedding reception in December?

*To Starrwood, who's obnoxious comment was completely unneccessary and in no way helpful, I'm completely aware that it's not a movie (duh). Clearly, I think it would be fun to do and the people coming to my reception like to have fun and have a sense of humor (unlike some people who seem to be sadly lacking one...). I ask that anyone else who wants to comment offer constructive advice.

The electric slide is always fun.
I went to a great wedding where they did the YMCA thing and got all the grannys up to do the arm motions.
it was a blast for people who did not come with anyone.

Well, I have a friend who has a cousin that did a salsa dance. She said it was really cool and unexpected because they started off with a slow dance and everyone was dancing s;pw and all of a sudden it made that noise with the record scratching and all of a sudden they all started doing a salsa dance all together on cue and that it looked really nice. I think a salsa dance would be pretty good.

Do you mean as a bridal dance or just everyone in general? There is a great scottish dance called "Strip the Willow" which can be adapted to other music if you don't like bagpipes. You don't have to be a great dancer and it is a good dance for everyone to join in.

My Aunt just had her wedding, DEFINATLY the best dance was the ChaCha Slide! It was so much fun, and everyone can get involoved, like in some dances when you have to know the steps. If you have ever heard it, it tells you what to go, So much fun! Its like slide to the left, you do it, Take it back now, and its not really hard, like everypone can go up and do it!

The Waltz is always a classic. It is graceful and makes your partner feels like they are literally floating off the dance floor. In my dancing classes, once you've learn the basic steps of the Waltz, then you got a good basis to learning other dances.
There is also the Bolero dance, which is known the 'dance of love'.

It depends on what you want to do or what your good at. If you slow dance there some like the Waltz or Rhamba. Fater Salsa, tango, any faster than that hip hop, electic, if it's in december you might want to try slow dancing. I wish you luck!

I woudl stick to something more timeless and traditional. Recreating a pop video dance routine is a bit much, and your wedding party won't thank you for it.
