A friend and I watched the movie a few days ago and wondered what the spy glass was all about. What group where their parents in? Why did most of those people die in a fire? The movie never really answered those questions and we where wondering if the book does.

Let's keep them true to their characters, so no "I'd meet Edward and I would make out with him." He is true to Bella so he wouldn't allow it. Acceptable answers would be, shopping with Alice, a makeover from Rosalee etc.

I want to refer to paintings (by title and artist) in a fictional book I am writing. Are they public domain (regardless of their age or popularity) or do I need permission to refer to them?

And if I CAN refer to them, is the proper usage to put the title within parentheses or should the title be italicized, or neither?

I have been told that numbers 1-10 should be spelled out, as in one, two, three, and so on, and that higher numbers use the actual numbers, like 11, 643, or 10,000.

I want to ensure that I am using the correct form before submitting my novel to a literary agent.

Please cite sources in answers; I am from Missouri, and tend to be skeptical of everything unless I can see proof.

i read a series of books when i was at school and they were from the school library so i know they are suitable for teenagers. there was about 3 or 4 of them and they were about a girl who moved house and she met some new people. one was called diana and she introduced her to a coven. she also met a guy and as time went on she found out that witchcraft was in her blood. also that someone they thought was evil turns out to be her father. does anyone know the name of these books?

I am writing a story and believe that I have come up with a good plot line. However, I am not sure if my characters actions are illegal or just immoral. I thought of calling a lawyer, but I would not be able to pay for a consultation. What other sources are there?

I'm curious how much folks have paid for their copies of "A Christmas Carol."

A few years ago someone in my town had donated a lot of brand new Readers Digest editions of some classic literature. Titles included "Call of the Wild" by Jack London, "A Christmas Carol and Other Stories" by Charles Dickens, and "The Sea Wolf" by Jack London. Normally the books I purchase at the library are books their getting rid of for what ever the reason or their used books people brought in for the library's annual book sale that didn't sale at that time. So I was a little shocked to find these very nicely bound books in brand new condition. I was even more shocked because they were charging just three dollars for them. Needless to say, I grabbed a copy of "A Christmas Carol and Other Stories" as I wanted "A Christmas Carol. The looks of the book even now, I dare say I'd be willing to pay thirty dollars or more for it.

How much have you paid for your "A Christmas Carol?"
