I hope this isn't your homework!!!
J R R Tolkien, His Lord of the Rings/Hobbits books have given me more reading pleasure than anyone Else's have. I re-read them just for the pleasure of it.
C S Lewis, His Narnia books are really wonderful and even an adult can get something from the experience. He also has written philosophically about Christianity and is a marvelous writer and deep thinker. He challenges my mind.
Jane Austen and Georgette Heyer. Both wrote amusing and interesting books about the different classes of people in England. They are excellent writers and very sharp observers of people.
Zenna Henderson. She is not well known, but she wrote some really nice science fiction/fantasy. She wrote with very keen insight and yet from a gentle point of view. I liked her and wish I could have known her as a person.

I love reading anything by Stephen King.
Harper Lee moved me with To Kill a Mockingbird.
As a child I loved all of Judy Blume's books. I had the full collection.
Then there are the classics like Shakespeare, Poe, Twain. I have everything written by them and love to read them.
