I've read all the Harry Potters many times. I am a very good reader. I love to read and I will read just about anything.

Is it considered too short?? Or is it reasonable, considering that it is a factual book and not a novel.

I absolutely LOVED "Jurassic Park" and "Timeline," which left me with no more fingernails. Even "State of Fear" was a nail-biter, once it got going. I thought "Prey" and "Eaters of the Dead" were a little unusual, although they were well-written. I didn't care much for "The Terminal Man" or "The Andromeda Strain." I'm reading "Sphere" right now, which isn't bad so far. What are YOUR feelings on his books?

I love stuff by Edgar Allen Poe so anything like that will be good...Any type too. It can be horror, mystery, fantasy, etc. We are going to the book store tonight and I was wondering if you knew a good book for me to get. Thanks.

Okay, so i just read the short story "Going Home to Auschwitz" It's basically about this jewish girl who was hiding (like Anne Frank) Her father survived the war under a false identity. So, this means.. somehow he escaped the concentration camps and got past the guards. This is my task:
Assume the role of either the grand mother or grand father. (parents of the father who escaped) You know that within minutes the guards will enter your building, take you outside and kill you. This is your only chance to write your son a letter and have it smuggled out of Auschwitz. You have not seen or heard from him in a couple of years.
I have to write an emotional letter to the father that escaped, pretending that i am his parents. I need to use some historical details.
Anyone have any ideas or suggestions for how i should write this letter? What i should include? An idea for how he escaped? (I get to make up how he escaped the camps"

p.s- thanks to everyone who answers!

Looking for a book about the future (already read 1984) where natural resource contraints, overpopulation etc. have de-stabilised the current economic order, and that reflects upon what the world will be like once that has happened.

Anything even slightly related about be useful.

I remember there being 4 ministries in the book and they had abbreviated forms to be used in newspeak. Something like the Ministry of Truth became Minitrue or something like that.

What were the ministries and what were their abbreviated forms?

I just got done reading the Twilight series, and I LOVED them! I like books about romance or fantasy. But I'm not interested into Harry Potter. I'd like a book similar to Twilight or any book recommended for young adults!

I am writing a novel and it has been suggested that it needs chapters, but I'm not so sure. It's only a novella really, just over 30000 words. I've been told that a chapter has to be a mini-plot with a resolution that contributes to the overall story, but I don't think that I have any parts that do that to turn into chapters. Does anyone have any ideas?

I'm have an idea for a screenplay and would like to start writing it, except I am having trouble comming up with good character names, i'm sick of using the same old boring names like John and such. (No offence if your name is John)

I could use a really great female name (First and Last name please) and a Male name (Again first and last) I do not feel like flipping through the phone book just yet, so I thought I would ask her. I would like the name to be known, but not very common (for the female).

If anyone could give me a list it would be very appreciated, First and Last names, thank you!

I'm 14, 9th grade. My english teacher told me the other day that I have "a gift." Everyone around me always compliments my writing A LOT. The thing is...I'm not sure I'm good enough. I've been told I should publish, but could a 14-year-old really spark that much interest? Here's some papers I wrote for english...please tell me what you think....

in language arts, we have to read one novel that we choose . we got to read summaries of each of 6 books she already chose . the one i found most interesting was "the martian chronicles" by Ray Bradbury . we have until monday to make the final decision if we really like it or not . so, if you have read the book, is it good ? did you enjoy it ?

p.s. please dont give me summaries from a website . i want to hear real peoples' reviews, not websties' .

thank youuuu =D

any help is welcomedd ;]

I was just going over my notes that I took from Stephen King's On Writing and Terry Brooks' Sometimes the Magic Works concerning their rejections. Yes I took notes...my wife calls me a nerd so I figured I might as well roll with it. Anyway, like the question states, how many "no's" did you receive before your first "yes"? Two of my early stories (written almost 20 years ago) are nearing the repolished stage and I'll be making the leap by submitting to magazines.

Would you take a chance on a book written by a nobody if you thought you would like it. being it is a poetry book would buy if you liked other poetry books just to see what the new author wrote and see if you would like their work if you knew some of what their poetry was about? like More than just a thought by Kellie Kopinski. it is a poetry book the is a expressive poetry book. full of emotions.
