I love stuff by Edgar Allen Poe so anything like that will be good...Any type too. It can be horror, mystery, fantasy, etc. We are going to the book store tonight and I was wondering if you knew a good book for me to get. Thanks.

H. G. Wells is a pretty good writer. But when it comes to horror, I prefer the more modern writers (although have you read The Lottery by Shirley Jackson? Just google it, it's online for free). Stephen King, Dean Koontz, Thomas Harris.

You definitely should read Desperation if you like horror. It's very bloody, but creepy. Pet Sematary isn't too gory, but it is one of the darkest things I've ever read. Needful Things, also by S.K. Strange Highways by Dean Koontz is especially good, although it is a short story compilation. False Memory, by D.K.

Well, good luck. :-]

I was gonna say Harry Potter, but i see that you like Poe,
What about Macbeth by William Shakespeare. Its a tragedy, and it use to be required reading, when I was in 10th grade English lit(of course that was ancient history. If that is too short of a read for you check out Lord Of The Rings,by J.R.Tolkien.One more suggestion any of the Sherlock Holmes books are regarded as classic detective mysteries.

I would choose Shirley Jakcison. Perhapos you know her from that wonderful story The Lottery. Her novels The Haunging of Hill House and We Have Alweys Lived in the Castle are gems. As a teenager, I wore out two copies of We Have Always Lived in the Castle. You will absolutely love the character of Merricat. Give them, a try. Ms. Jackson is a true world class author. Pax - C

Anything by John Bellairs would be good for you. He is a young adult author that wrote Gothic Horror. Excellent books. I think A House with a Clock in its Walls is probably his most popular. Happy reading!
