I'm very bad at this, i read the book for a school project, but then again for myself. i seen the movie and i can figure out things about that, but in this novel i read [by michael crichton] i am not very good at finding things that differ from the movie in a big way.

Can someone tel lme what the theme of the BOOK would be?
i think its just..the park itself i'm not sure what theme is all about.

And theres a question i have to answer about Characters, and i wanted to do one of them about Ellie, but i can't think of anything about her, she doe'snt have a big role in the book as she did in the movie.

Anybody know those anwsers?

The one where they all live in another planet (I forgot which one, but I'm pretty sure it was one of the inner ones) and it always rains, except once every seven years, and they lock the girl in the closet and forget to let her out until the Sun has already gone away?
I read last year for ELA and loved it, but for the life of me, I can't remember what it was called. Please help!

So until we reach that pinnacle, what are we? Unpublished writers, quasi-authors, non-existent authors, ghost writers...what?

If all these books we write are things of "non-importance"--then how do we get to become traditionally published?

Do we tell the agents and publishers, "Look: I have this great theme for a book, but unfortunately, I can't write it because I'm not considered a traditionally published author"?

And if not, whose books *are* these? The endless pages of personal grief, trials and tribulations, personal loss, and/or triumph--that we (as writers) pen in?

Are these our works or are they just someone else's? Someone who is traditionally published and knows more about writing than God himself?

I need to do a book report, and i love scary books (the scarier the better). I'm not allowed to pick a book that's been made into a movie, tv show, or videogame. Any suggestions.

After not writing for a long time...I am again. I am trying to work on a new short story or possibly develop it into a novel. I have a lot of ideas but my problem is exactly how to begin. Is it better to begin with dialogue and jump right into it or give some sort of background information? If I go with the latter I am not sure how to transition. Any information on how to go about with the first few pages would be greatly appreciated.

Okay...PLEASE don't copy this guys. I worked VERY hard to get this tiny bit...so don't be a cheat.

That night Calypso, Goddess of the Sea and Lestat, Prince of Vampires died because of Will, who was left to raise Calypso and Lestat’s twins, Olivia and Tristan. But when the three left The Flying Dutchman, the crew suffered greatly. The Flying Dutchman must have a captain, and it was Tristan’s job to cut out his heart, and become the captain of this damned ship and its members. However, Will refused to let the children stay on the ship…and took them to a small house in Port Royal until one not so special day sixteen years later. Will wanted the two to be what he called “normal” and told them that he was their father, and their mother died during birth.
You see, Olivia was blessed with her mothers’ powers, and controlled the seas…without even knowing it. Tristan on the other hand, was not so fortunate. Tristan was cursed with his fathers’ vampirism and dark, unwanted solitude.

when Harry is "half-dead", and is talking to Dumbeldore, why does JK Rowling have the setting be in Kings Cross? Is there any specific significance to that? Something tells me that she wouldn't just have that be the setting for the heck of it...

i want it to take place in a different world from ours but the people are just like us. I was thinking of making them be able to transform into specific animals but i'm still not sure yet. So it isn't just like us but simmilar. You know, kind of magical but i can't decide where it will take place. I was thinking of having it on earth but an island or city that humans have never discovered before so they have different inventions and styles. you know? And then at the end they figure out where they are and that they aren't the only ones if you get what i'm saying. or they know other humans exist but other humans don't know they do. I'm really stuck and can't continue the book until i find a setting. thanks!

I’ve read The Shining, The Stand, Misery, and Insomnia and I really like them all. What are some other books like them? And they don’t necessarily have to be by Stephen King.
