this world would never end up like 1984(the book). the middle class in many countries has grown too large. Plus, George Orwell intended the book as a warning, not a prediction or prophecy. We would really have to have grown mindless to succumb to propoganda. Plus, the liberal population has grown too lage to accept something like that.

I have no one to look at my work! Not an agent. (have no money for one !) Not a teacher. And family is of no use really. Not a soul that is useful at my dispoble. . . I've looked over my work a million times and know there is probably things I need to fix. Grammar or whatever. But you can only catch so much of your own mistakes. You know?
So I was just wondering, should I throw caution to the wind and submit it anyway? It's a short story only about 40 something pages. Really interesting story, if I may say so myself. Should I just go for it and submit? If they say no, they say no. I just want someone to look at what I got. Who knows. . .

What do you think?

If there is any spelling mistakes in this question, don't bother telling me. I assume there probably is!

I have just bought a book called, ' Mum, can you lend me twenty quid', it was written by Elizabeth Burton-Phillips. (14.99) It is about a mother who's two sons turned into heroin addicts. It is a true story. What a good but very sad read. I work in Substance misuse & it gives a different outlook reading about the other side of the coin..Well recommended ...

I really would like to start writing a novel. Can anyone throw me some tips how how to start? I really don't know how to start.

Also, is there any type of programs that make writing a book easier? all I really have is microsoft word/notebook. I guess my grammar and punctuation isn't too well, so something that might give me some help in that department.
Then any tips on once your book is complete what to do with it? Get it proof read or something? I would really like to become an author but I don't really know the journey to do it at.

I've been working on a poetry compilation for two, maybe three years. I just finished revising the manuscript. Originally, the book had about 130 poems, but i've narrowed it down to my top 40 best poems. i doubt i'll have much luck finding a way to get it published, but wish me luck....tipps are welcome too if you happen to be a published writer.

Why is it that every time I talk to somebody about writers they always seem to know more and is more interested in American writers? Is that they think American writers are better, are they ignorant (not stupid, just under exposed), or are they stupid?

I believe some the best writers in history are foreign, from Oscar Wilde to Voltaire to Johnathan Swift to Franz Kafka. So why is it people so know little about them.

Also, will people understand me better? Do you think I describe myself better in writing, than in real-life? Think I'll have more luck as a professional writer? What would I be best writing about? Do you think Bassam and I will make peace after I become a writer? Should I donate some of the money I earn selling my books to the United Arab College Fund? (Or something similar.) What do you think? Honest answers, please. No mean, discouraging shyt, either. I feel really good today, and feel that God is in CONTROL. God bless you all. Hugs.

Mine include Robert Frost and Emily Dickinson.

However, I subscribe to the theory that the poets of today are the song writers, so I include Bob Dylan, Paul Simon, and John Hartford.

So, who are yours? Lyricists included.
