The Golden Compass is the first book of Philip Pullman's 'Dark Materials' trilogy, which follows Lyra Belacqua and Will Parry as they make their way through a maze of parallel universes.
No other movie has been made.
The other two books of the trilogy are 'The Subtle Knife' and 'The Amber Spyglass'.

I have to say, I am lost by your question. What do you mean by "is there a movie of the golden compass that didn;'t hit the big screen?"

Are you asking if they have made the movie before? The answer is no.

If that is not what you meant, please clarify your question.

Um, Lyra is British. It's set in Oxford. In Britain. An alternate universe yes, but an alternate *Britain*. There was no other move, but there was a play.
