Mine include Robert Frost and Emily Dickinson.

However, I subscribe to the theory that the poets of today are the song writers, so I include Bob Dylan, Paul Simon, and John Hartford.

So, who are yours? Lyricists included.

You know how subjective it is to choose a favorite anything: the next day your mood changes and your list changes. Well, you have so far reminded me of many other poets I like:

Paul McCartney (esp. w/John Lennon)
Edgar Allan Poe
ee cummings
Jim Morrison

Mother Goose :)
and
Robert Louis Stevenson ... These 2 (or more) allowed me to "teach" myself to read so many years ago.

Frankly I still enjoy the "children's poets" the most.
Shel Silver stein
Bill Pete
Dr Seuss
Arnold Libel
Maurice Sendai
Steven Foster
Ann Nolan Clark
Machete Chute
Mary Ann Doberman
Jack Prelates

These authors are just a few of the reasons that I enjoyed my 30 year stint in 2ND grade so much. I am sure I have forgotten a few. Try reading a few of these authors to get a great fresh view of life. Better yet read them with a child.
