First, that's awesome that you want to improve the talent that you have. One piece of advice I can give is to get a copy of Stephen King's book On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft. While I was serving in Iraq, I bought it and read it, as I wanted to improve my creative writing skills. It's a great book for anyone who wants to write. It has many good ideas and tips about getting started, and things to think about. It's also a funny, entertaining read. I think that you would like it, even if you haven't read any of King's other work. I would recommend it highly. It even discusses how to get published. The second thing that I would advise, if you haven't already done so, is to take as much english/writing course work as possible (in high school and continuing into college.) Finally, and this is from Steve King himself, read constantly. He says that, whether you realize it or not, when you read you are also learning what good writing (and not so good writing) sounds like. He regards constant reading as part of a budding writer's training. I hope that it gave you some direction. On Writing is available at Amazon.com, Barnes and Noble, and several other booksellers. Get a copy of it and study it. Let me know how it goes. I wish you the best of luck with this! john_r820@yahoo.com

I want to be a writer too. Just write exactly what is in your head. Just write it down on notebook paper without any format or order, get all the ideas out, and then write your book (oraganize your ideas). Even write down the ideas that don't seem that good. Keep a diary too. It may help you with your story or become one of its own......

Yeah, same problem here. Send me something if you find something useful, please? It's like I can see the scene in my head, and I know I'm a good writer. But once I start to write, I screw it up. When I work on somebody else's story, however, I do really well. Strange, huh?

The best way to learn to write is to read a lot. You'll learn what other authors do that works or doesn't work, and you'll be able to apply that to your own writing.

Also, you really need to work on your spelling and grammar. But reading a lot would help that as well.

Keep writing and keep experimenting with what you have.

Start a blog and showcase some of your work.
