(I'm 34 so I'm past the Sweet Valley High phase)

I went to the library and didn't know what to pick. If you have read any really good books lately, I would appreciate some recommendations. I don't like science fiction or Harry Potter stuff. Romance and stuff would be ok, but not too trashy.

If they do, then why do so many published books get bad reviews? And why do so many successful books have a hard time getting published?

J.K. Rowling was rejected by 12 different publishers! I bet they're still kicking themselves over that decision.

Yeah like Ben r I'm 14 instead of 12 but I don't know how to get my books published. I'm a bit edgy about letting her see my stories. To those who are like me I guess you'd know what I'm talking about.

I've been toying with a few stories that involve copyrighted characters. Basically, I was creating a story, adding my family in to the original storyline. Some family members would like me to write it and distribute it to family. I'm considering writing the 2 stories and distributing them to family, but only family. Would I get in trouble? I've considered contacting the company that owns the rights to the characters, but I don't want to seem silly, or like I'm looking for a job!

You can just give details you don't have to write a story, but you can if you want.

This is a true story. I'll reveal later what actually happened.

I'm curious as to what you all think would be a funny way of ending the joke.

A dentist sees a new young patient for the first time and his mother has accompanied him into the examination room. When the dentist reads the child's chart and notices his name is Dante he turns to the mother and says,

"That's a name I don't come across very often, have you heard of Dante's Inferno?"

The mother replies"_______________".

Ok this is hard to explain but ive just worked out that Harry is Sirius's 2nd cousin once removed, the same thing as Arthur Weasley, (Its on a family tree that J.K Rowling herself drew up)
so that means that Harry and Ginny are commiting Incest by being Married and having 3 children....

This guy seems to have an ego the size of Texas (referencing his blog, website), but I can't see what's so amazing about him. He also has some good reviews from semi-decent authors. Does anyone here see what is so remarkable, or even good, about his writing? Here is a link to an excerpt from his latest book, called Doorway of Darkness:
