(I'm 34 so I'm past the Sweet Valley High phase)

I went to the library and didn't know what to pick. If you have read any really good books lately, I would appreciate some recommendations. I don't like science fiction or Harry Potter stuff. Romance and stuff would be ok, but not too trashy.

Most of These arent romance but are good
Angels and Demons (Same character as DaVinci Code but takes place 1rst) by Dan Brown
Da Vinci Code b y Dan Brown
Any thing by James Patterson is good. I would Recommend Kiss the Girls as one of the 1rst to read you can look up the Alex Cross books (main character) and find the order of them
For romances I would recomend Joanna Lindsey I liove all her books but the Mallory family ones and Angel are my favorites
The Born In Trilogy by Nora Roberts( Born in Fire, B N Ice, B N Shame)
If you like thriller stuff I would reccomend John Saul or Dan Koontz
I know you arent into sci fi but if you like Fantasy(dragons, elves, etc) Eragon and Eldest are really good by Christopher Paolin
Hope these help you some. I love reading. I read anything that will sit still long enough lol.

Hey momma: Sometimes I'm in the same dilemma as you. When I am, I turn to the classics. Here's three to look for the next time you're in the library (I'm impressed that somebody else still goes to the library, too):

Moby Dick by Melville - tells you what it was like to be an American 150 years ago, and how close it is to today.

The Things they Carried by O'Brien - an outstanding and astounding work of art. When you're reading it, keep telling yourself it's a work of fiction.

A Farewell to Arms by Hemingway - a great love story wrapped inside an anti-war novel.

Happy reading.

Try "The Ice Storm" by Rick Moodey

The novel received large amounts of acclaim by readers and critics alike, widely hailed as a funny, acerbic, and moving hymn to a dazed and confused era of American life.

The novel was adapted into an acclaimed a feature film directed by Ang Lee, featuring a cast including Joan Allen, Kevin Kline, Sigourney Weaver, Christina Ricci, Elijah Wood and Tobey Maguire.

"The Time Travelers Wife" is really good. And they are making the novel into a movie not sure if it will be as good as they book but it should be interesting to see how they do it!

You'd probably like books by Carl Hiaasen - "Sick Puppy" and "Basket Case" were very enjoyable to me. Very different. I'm working on reading the rest of his books.
