This guy seems to have an ego the size of Texas (referencing his blog, website), but I can't see what's so amazing about him. He also has some good reviews from semi-decent authors. Does anyone here see what is so remarkable, or even good, about his writing? Here is a link to an excerpt from his latest book, called Doorway of Darkness:

Nor do I, his writing is mediocre, but I don't think it's the writing that made him, like most writers it's story.
I love Stephen King but his "writing' is a far cry from greatness, in my opinion. His stories that have festered in his mind and he allowed us in on are what makes him great.
I think that most of us can write, some of us will be put on the bookcases for years to come for our writing skills. But, until those special few are found we get to read things like Doorway Of Darkness..lol

Well, everybody else is going out of their way to be polite about this, but despite being Canadian, I simply can't be.
"Cra-lunk." "Fwamm!" "Swwaahhm!"
Aside from the most (*expletives and politically incorrect references omitted*) series of onomatopoeia I've ever seen, just the sheer stilted awfulness of the prose, and the overwrought "..."s hurt me inside. Really.
And it's not that I mind these devices, if properly used, but that isn't the case here.
I keep flipping back to check and see if it's a joke, or if it's trying (unsuccessfully) to be funny.
"Axiom-man"? Does the writer know what an axiom is? "Self-evident-truth-man" just doesn't do a lot for me. Sorry.
Seriously. Somebody tell me this is a joke, and he's not getting paid for this crap.

Well, no I don't. It seems stale to me. I may not be a fair judge though because that book certainly does not belong in any of my favorite genres.

I'm not particularly impressed. It seems like cheesy, purple fanfic style prose to me. If anything, I'd say it's juvenile and bad. I'm sure it has its audience, though.
