I have an rough-edged-outline of my story (all the characters, and all that nice information that really makes them stand out,..) My story is about these three pirates that steal a ship from this captain that marooned them on an island 2 years before, and they mysteriously excaped the island and are now looking for revenge on the captain. But im not sure what step to take next. I just cant get the "edge" to write what happens. So i guess you could call it writers block? Anything that would help?

Ok i just read a book, found out it was becomming a movie, watched the movie when it came out, and got so mad!
why you ask??
becuz i read the book and it was really good... i mean REALLY REALLY good!
and the movie TOTALLY messed it up! i mean this movie seemed like it had NOTHING to do with the book! it was like a whole diff story! the characters...well they didnt look like how they were described in the book. SO a while before i told my frendz that the books was good, and said thay they should read it... they didnt, but they saw the movie...they said it was bad, and now they say that i have bad taste in books! and voted me off of the school book and journalism committee! but my question is, am i the only on who has read a book that bacame a movie that was really bad?

Aside from Uncle Tom's Cabin, The Wide Wide World, The Lamplighter and Little Lord Fauntleroy which I already found. It has to be sentimental, i.e. female domestic fiction, so no Huck Finn etc.
Thanks!!!!

I'm in 8th Grade and need to have a short story written by Friday January 5, 2007. I have run out of ideas!!!!!!!!! Please help! Please don't tell me how I can get inspired or to write about things I know about or am interested in. The story just needs to persuade my teacher to believe in something (i.e. magic, or that flying is possible). Any kinds of ideas would be helpful!

THE ROAD NOT TAKEN
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;
Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,
And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I-
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

Okay, so I've written a novel and I'd like to try to get the attention of agents and/or publishing companies. I've read about the importance of putting together a synopsis, so that's what I'm doing now. From what I've read, the synopsis should be chronological. That makes sense, but it's easier said than done since there are two storylines taking place in the book that come together towards the end. (Some events in the main character's personal life seem irrelevant to her work until the end.) In the manuscript itself it flows from section to section. However as I try to reduce it to a very abbreviated synopsis it seems like I'm bouncing back and forth between personal life and professional life.

So do I follow the same pattern as the manuscript - bouncing back and forth as gracefully as possible in the synopsis? Or do I do the professional storyline first, catch the reader up on the personal storyline, and then pick up where the two come together? What would a publisher want?

Thank!

...talks about Communism?

If you can also work out some hip hop slangs, Redneck Vocabulary and Aussie words I'd find it great.

The best answer award goes to the most original and coolest poem submitted.

On The Road movie?
can you believe they're planning on making a movie based on the Beat novel On the Road???
this can not and should not be happening!!!!
the movie will only ruin everything we seen and believed from reading the book.
will movies crack the foundations of timeless literature again and again and again???
we must not let it!!!!!!!

what are your thoughts

Someone did think that I wanted ppl to do my homework. This is not true. I simply want a few suggestions. If others do my homework I learn nothing. Thank you for any help you can give.

I found one site that said she did. It's traditionally attributed to Robert, but has a removed site for a "Reprint of the fragment of poetry known as the "Aeschylus' Soliloquy" by Elizabeth Barrett Browning and the history of its misattribution to Robert Browning. In Victorian Poetry, Volume 35, no. 3, Fall 1997, "Aeschylus' Soliloquy" by Elizabeth Barrett Browning, by Margaret Reynolds and Barbara Rosenbaum. (removed)" all help is appreciated.
