I've read "Going Solo" several times, which is an account of Roald Dahl as a young man working in the Shell oil company in Africa, and which details his experience as a British RAF pilot in Africa during WW2. Does anyone know whether or not any of his company men are still alive to this day? Thanks in advance.

I use to read here years ago. Loved her books -- Frederica, Grand Sophie, These Old Shades and many more. Just wanyed to know if there were any Heyer fans out there and which of her books did you like the most. I loved the Talisman Ring.

This book has nothing to do with astrology and I think there are 7 love signs. One is Touch, another is quality time, and I know another one is gifts... Does anyone know what the other signs are or what the book is called?

This book tells you what your "love sign" is. Wether it's touch, quality time, words of affection... and so on. Does anyone know what all of the love signs are?

I have an old copy (undated) of a fairy tales book by the Brothers Grimm. In the table of contents I can read the titles, but having no German I can't read much more than that.

The book is published in the old ornate German script (sorry, don't know the technical name for it).

My question is: Does anybody know about what year books would have been published in the old script? In about what year would the script have changed to a modern typeface?

I'd like to get an approximate date for the publication of this book.

Thanks for your help.

I've been recently writing a book that I look to soon publish. However, being that I am a new writer, I'm a bit confused as to how I could go about doing that. Are there any good, or trustworthy publishers I could go to to accomplish this? Do I have to worry about my book being stolen? Any answers would be greatly appreciated.

cont...
different.

the poem says;
poplars are standing there still as death
And ghosts of dead men
Meet their ladies walking
Two by two beneath the shade
And standing on the marble steps

There is a sound of music echoing
Through the open door
And in the field there is another sound tinkling in the cotton;
Chains of bondsmen dragging on the ground.

The years go back with an iron clack,
A hand is on the gate,
A dry leaf trembles on the wall.
Ghosts are walking.
They have broken roses down
And poplars stand there still as death.

Somehow I inherited a few dozen of classic books like Great Expectations, Alice in Wonderland, King Solomon's Mines etc. I have boys who are great readers. Are the book rewritten for the Great Illustrated Classics series so watered down that they're not worth reading?
