The "Cherry Ames" series was written in the late fifties and throughout the sixties, and were similar to the "Nancy Drew" series. Each book involved a mystery that Cherry had to solve, but the difference was that Cherry was a nurse, and in every single book, she was a different type of nurse working in a different envionment and/or job! It was rather amusing, as her character only aged a handful of years, and she went through approximately thirty different jobs!
Have you ever read one of these books? They're rather uncommon.

Mark Twain once stated that, when it comes to books, a "classic" is a book that everyone wants to have read, but doesn't want to read it. Having said this, do you read "classics"? If so why? If not, why?

BTW - I LOVE the classics.

Swings by his thigh / a thing most magical!
Below the belt / beneath the folds
Of his clothes it hangs / a hole in its front end,
stiff-set and stout / it swivels about.

Levelling the head / of this hanging tool,
its wielder hoists his hem / above his knee;
it is his will to fill / a well-known hole
that it fits fully / when at full length

He's oft filled it before. / Now he fills it again.

QUOTATION: Love is too young to know what conscience is,
Yet who knows not conscience is born of love?
Then, gentle cheater, urge not my amiss,
Lest guilty of my faults, thy sweet self prove.
For, thou betraying me, I do betray
My nobler part to my gross body’s treason;
My soul doth tell my body that he may
Triumph in love: flesh stays no farther reason,
But rising at thy name doth point out thee
As his triumphant prize. Proud of this pride,
He is contented thy poor drudge to be,
To stand in thy affairs, fall by thy side.
No want of conscience hold it that I call
Her “love” for whose dear love I rise and fall.
ATTRIBUTION: William Shakespeare (1564–1616), British poet. Love is too young to know what conscience is (l. 1–14). . .

A BBQ that taste like heaven
A a splash in the pool
A time to enjoy the memories that are made in my heart

Her mother decided it was time for her to pass on (the mother went out into the wilderness to die). It tells of her delivering her baby by herself.
I read the book in college around the late 1970s.
