Robert Louis Stevenson was a marvelous author -- very prolific and very varied. Along with Treasure Island, he wrote A Child's Garden of Verses, and The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. His many published works covered novels, short stories, poetry, and non-fiction. Stevenson lived from 1876 to 1894, travelled widely and ended his days living in the South Seas, where he enjoyed watching the water, the sunsets and revelling in the beauty of his surroundings.

He was a scottish gentleman, wrote prolifically and lived a grand life. Most of his books are worth reading and Treasure Island is one of my all time favorite books.

Robert Louis Stevenson was a Scottish born author of the 19th century. He wrote "Treasure Island" (allegedly to ingratiate himself with his step-son), "The Master of Ballantrae" (a Frankenstein-esque novel which raises the question, Who is the bad guy? (for me it did anyway)),"Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde", a whole bunch of short stories, and my personal favorite, "The Black Arrow." He traveled widely, having lived in Frisco, Scotland (duh), Hawaii, upstate New York, and Samoa, where he died. Ironically, though he suffered from tuberculosis his entire life, he died of a stroke.
