Truly difficult question to answer - as there are sooooo many fine publications that have influenced/molded my present life situation - based on application of the information contained in the pages read. . .but. . .
You ask for the BEST book (not books)?that has influenced my life. . . so. . .
Here 'tis the title, etc.
The Christ Conspiracy - The Greatest Story Ever Sold
authored by Acharya S - 1999
ISBN 0-932813-74-7

Author Barbara G. Walker writes: (review)
"This is a well-crafted, thought-provoking work that belongs in the library of every thinking individual. It should be read by every person concerned about the moral, ethical, and spiritual aspects of our culture; it should be read particularly by those who profess belief in any of the numerous varieties of Christianity. It is a book of true enlightenment."
After reading and considering all the material contained in this well researched and documented work, I must agree with this review. In my opinion, this author manifests well, her abilities in archaeology, history, mythology, and linguist studies. . . awesome, if not controversial, reading. . . life (belief) changing, at it's best!

Two books, one's negative and the other for the life (totally) changing influence it had on me,and it was mentioned earlier by someone ''As a Man Thinketh'' by James Allen, it opened the door and when I read ''The Wisdom of James Allen'' I walked through, a real must read, just a couple paragraphs and then think about it-wow. The other by Emmett Grogan, "Ringalevio'' a bio. of a junkie/criminal/adventurer/hippie that started the Diggers in San Francisco during the 60's, the Summer of Love, the peace sign and a whole lot more, I was out there during that time, what a trip, the ''bummer'' being I rode that trip a bit to long, ''As a Man Thinketh'' changed all that.

Two Years Before The Mast, published in 1840 by Richard Henry Dana Jr. Do yourself a big favor and read it! Do read the Bible as well. The merry adventures of Robin Hood by Howard Pyle is most recommended. Don't leave the Planet without reading either one! God Bless!

It is hard to say, other than the Bible, what ONE book. I am an avid reader and have found that everything whether good or bad will shape you and make another aspect of you person.
Try Mere Christianity by C S Lewis. I t is a very good look at the reason and "unreason" that has made and broken people, and the truths of God that give light to that.

"The Stranger" by Camus. It made me realize that I did not want to end up like the main character. I did not want to be an existentialist nobody that saw no point or reason to life. I guess the book had the opposite affect that it was intending on me because I was sickened by Meursault's "revelation" toward the end of the book (I won't give it away what happens to him if you haven't read it). I truly believe that there is a meaning to life, it's just different for every single person that you meet.

Here are just a few books amongst more than 1000 I've read that not only "Influenced" but also literally "changed" my life not to say SAVED MY LIFE...!
*Practicing the Power of NOW: Eckhart Tolle
*Conversation with God / Neale Donald Walsh : 3 volumes
*Communion with God / Neale Donald Walsh
*The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success:Deepak Chopra
*The Way of the Wizard: Deepak Chopra
If you read only one of those and REALLY put it to practice, your life will have a totally other meaning.
May the light guide you, as it did for me...
