I need to change my job - I think! I have worked for and cared for people all my working life but I want a new challenge whilst I can still find the energy and the enthusiasm. I have always wanted to write but, hubby, kids, job and now grandchildren have taken up my time. I dont even know if I can write - I suspect if I went on a writers course they would laugh at me - especially when I see some of the articles and poems amateurs do write. However, I love writing and have written articles for my work magazine which they always publish, unedited - so where do I start? I Thanks in advance

My mother died, and my father, Captain Crewe, serves in India, so he left me at a boarding school. It was fine at first, but then he died, and left no money, so Miss Minchin took away all my things, toys and clothes, and send me to sleep at the attic. I work as a servant for free, without any payment, I am always hungry, they never give me enough to eat, and I have only one dress to wear. I am so lonely, unhappy and starving! What should I do?

You Know What You Did
Written By Semper Fi Reborn

Yeah, I saw you.
Just running in the room,
And giving everyone the best parts.
Tiny loving pieces,
Of all your blessed hearts.
Sashaying around the room,
Like a friend who gives joy.
Like a child,
Who let's their best friend,
Play with their best toy.
You know what you did.
I saw you do it.
Making everyone smile.
Opening up the doors of miracles.
Giving love in great big piles.
Don't try to hide,
Although you're humble.
Although your radiance does shine.
There are many friends in the world.
But I am Blessed,
You're one of mine!
You know what you did!

If I were an artist
I’d paint a horizon
Colored by sunlight
A red morning glow

If I could sing loudly
I’d thunder a chorus
Of hope and fulfillment
A great destiny

But I’m the dead poet
A word’s all I offer
Sorrowful laughter
With stilled memories

So here are my verses
Indulgent repartee
A vision in language
A voice from the grave

Life, through a sight glass
Prepared, stylized, perfected
Controlled experiment
Organized information
Logical outcome

When I, under a quiet autumn moon
Spied a vision of beauty beyond belief
In her sleep, with the golden leaves falling
I laid next to her and stared at the sky

Love, through a looking glass
Pretentious, stubborn, perfect
Uncontrolled excitement
Organ grinder’s monkey
Illogical outcry

I know some here think a yes/no or T/F type answer is an answer to a philosophy Q, but do you think they are truly philosophical A's? What's missing from such answers?, Exactly what makes an answer philosophical?? This Q gets at the heart of the problem of what is the kind of Q&A process taking place at YA -especially here in the philosophy subcategory!

I just need a working title for my story. It's about a girl who looses the love of her life who was her childhood friend. Now she is having to deal with the after math a year later. But the story is mainly flash back, leading up to how he died. It will explain alot thorugh out the book, who he was and his background and the things they did together. It tells you more about the narrorator. It's a story that keeps you in the dark for a long time, only feeding you little by little with flash backs. It's a very sad story.

Have you ever read a book that you only read because there was a lot of hype surrounding it and then found out it wasn’t good at all? If so what was the book?

For example I couldn’t get through the first book of the Uglies series despite how I was assured it was both ground breaking and entertaining

If we look around, we find mind-boggling complexity in everything. It is baffling to see how life clings on to a relatively insignificant planet twirling round an almost equally insignificant star – the Sun, within the grand scales of an immensely huge universe. And life is all that we have, but what is life? Is it a sheer act of courage in existence, or life is just the way a large factory is pre-requisite for to production of a simple electric bulb, that human life is just all too natural effect of all other things?
