I am having to do a reading at my Dads funeral on Friday (His brother was supposed to be doing it - but now can't make the funeral). Therefore I am very short on time, obviously I will pay my own tribute to my dad but I also want to read out maybe a poem that has connections to The Navy or the Sea (as he was ex navy) anyone know anything that may be fitting ? any help really appreciated as I am in a blind panic now

I recently submitted a snippit of one of my older writings to a writing critique group. I had some positive feedback, however, a lot of people had a problem with the fact that I didn't divulge the character's physical despcription, age, or details about the subject of a conversation (the "Orange Experiment"). They said things like "Why should I care about this guy if I don't know anything about him?" or "Why should I care about this conversation when I don't know what the Orange Experiement is?" and similar things.

My question is: In the first few pages of your novel, did you immediately give specifics about the characters physical appearance age, etc. I find this to be kind of odd, almost forced. I wanted the details to present themselves naturally, not like I was writing an article. In the pages that followed what I submitted, more details presented themselves in, what I thought was, a natural fashion.

Your thoughts?

In a few weeks I am photographing a friend of the family's wedding. I have done other weddings in the past, but this is the only one where I actually know the people personally. It is a small ceremony in their parents' backyard. Any tips on poses or anything else would greatly be appriciated. The backyard is by woods, and they have a brick patio with a small waterfall (man made) and a lot of wildflowers. The ceremony is at 2pm, and the couple is very casual. Hope someone can help.

Hi, I want to write not a novel but a book. I want to direct it at Young Adult readers or Children. I know its easier to write a childrens book (pagewise) but its kind of embarassing for a 14 year old to write a book like that. I'd hope my friends would support me but i dont want to be laughed at.. And i dont have any ideas for a young adult book.. HELP!

for my A level art project the theme is 'revealed & concealed' - i don't have a clue what to do to follow this idea

i've looked at artists such as jackson polloc, andy goldsworthy, david johnson, verushka, rachel whiteread, christo & magritte

i really just need unusual and experimental ideas for the project. so far i have got pig hoofprints on canvas, lots of random ink blots on big sheets of paper and worked into, work with water & light

any ideas will be great! =] please please help....i'm not the best at coming up with ideas but i can draw and paint etc

thank you x x x x x x x x x

Basically just put tru or false, and whoever has the closest correct gets ten points.

1. God is the creator of all things and He created it in SIX days.

2. The Bible has always been the same and will never change.

3. America is the center of the World.

4. The World is too full.

5. Creation has more solid evidence

If the first Harry Potter book (Harry Potter and the Sorceror's Stone) takes place in 1990-1997,and the last Harry Potter book (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows) takes place in 1997-1998, how could there be a Nimbus 2000 and 2001? I really don't get it.

*****

In Kansas City, there’s a witty ditty spinner,
Rhymes for dimes, poetic crimes…one dollar,
Sings a song and dances for his dinner,
Angelic prose from such a retched sinner,
Perched upon the porch, Grackle cackling,
Pecks away at paint and cracked up spackling…

So far my ideas are pretty lame - - the word spelled out in Scrabble tiles, a bulls eye, a stack of books on the subject. Maybe a face with eraser marks all around? I don't really like any of those. I'm stumped!
