T.E. Lawrence is one. Some disciple of Freud by the last name of Erickson is another.

In particular, I am looking for examples of people that were disturbed by their not having a relationship with their biological father.

I have 3 painting by an artist that signs his name as H. Schmid. The H stands for Hans. Two of the paintings were done in 1949 the third one doesn’t have a date. They are landscape paintings. How can I find out more on H. Schmid? I’ve gone to antique dealer and the artist is listed in some databases. He appears to have been born in 1903 in Germany. Some paintings have been sold at auction according to the antique dealer I went to, but without any dollar amounts listed. But there is no other information about the artist in the databases. The paintings were my grandparents, then my mothers, and now mine. I’ve done some research at my library and still can’t find out anything other than when he was born.

Did things happen that you didn't expect, or things you expected to happen that didn't?
Let's hear your thoughts on the last book of the famous Harry Potter series.

Me, I thoroughly enjoyed reading it, because there were plenty of shocking moments. Like after the chase to the Tonks' house, when the chapter was titled "Fallen Warrior", I really thought Hagrid was dead at the beginning and I was thoroughly upset. Or when Hermione got tortured, Bellatrix decided to do it so suddenly it was a shock.

But the ending was too "fairy tale", if you know what I mean. The good guy won and got the girl, and I was convinced that Harry would sacrifice himself to defeat Voldemort (the last few chapters made it sound like that!). And neither Ron nor Hermione died! I was expecting throughout the entire book for one of them to die.

So, your thoughts

I have too much free time, am bored and am thinking of getting a novel that can really eat my time.
Any genres will be welcome, even the philosophical.
And, please, just please, try to recommend a THICK book.

Thanks!

..."Not" the "Right" thing to do...? In other words, aren't there situations in life where "both" and/or "neither" would actually be the "correct" evaluation of the situation given all the situations' kaleidoscopic details and parameters...?
