My opinion is that MacArthur is an overrated scumball and a lousy military commander. He let his planes get caught on the ground 2 days after Pearl Harbor was bombed. The Bataan defense was incompetently planned by him. He stayed in Australia with his wife while his men endured hardships in the field. The Philipines should have been by-passed to save american lives and resources. It should have been "we" shall return, not "I" shall return. Finally he went off on some kind of god worship that the Japs showed him during the occupation and his mind became totally unhinged. He let the Japanese murder whales despite strong protests from our allies Britain, Australia, New Zealand, China, and the Phillipines. Tens of thousands of magnificent whales were murdered due to MacArthur. Truman was right to fire his ***. "Old soldiers never die, they just fade away" Good. He would have been a worse President than George W. Bush. Comments please.

the Norman invasion,1066, while he was away in France, in favor of Edgar Atheling`s party, which evidently failed, as the Norman Barons involved in it were obliged to flee up to Scotland and seek the protection of the Scottish King, Malcolm Canmore, who had married Edgar`s sister.

Is there someone who might be able to shed more light on this story, and explain further why there should have been an Insurrection in the first place?
Also...Could the Norman Invasion have had more hidden motives other than William`s desire to fullfill his claim to the English throne? Might there have been, for example, some connection with the now popular theme of the Templars?

Good evening, ladies and gentlemen. My name is Ian. It's fantastic to see all of you here. And, I am very honored to be part of tonight's instrumental performance to you. I will be playing glockenspiel, a song called “River.” You will be seeing many of us presenting an ensemble which we have practiced for a long time. We appreciate who has been supportive to let us learn playing musical instruments, but what we are presenting here tonight is how we learn the true value of teamwork through the taking this challenge and putting efforts to make tonight's performance to happen. Please enjoy the show.

I define the soul as the seat of free will. It may be many things, and the fact that it is the seat of free will may only be a secondary characteristic, but all of those aspects of us that give us free will comprise the soul.

I consider the existence of the soul to be self-evident -- not because of my faith, particularly, but because without it we cannot trust anything we ever say. In other words, since the soul is the seat of free will, someone who thinks that they have proved that there is no free will has just effectively denied the very method of proof that they have used. Why? Because they are choosing between competing theories, and if they cannot choose, then choosing between competing theories is meaningless. The person who believes that there is no such thing as free will essentially puts, say, the Pope's or Muhammad Atta's thought processes on the exact same footing as his own.

for anyone in need. This is a neighborhood outreach. All funding has been provided by her and the family. She recently has become incorporated and was issued an EIN number. She also is operating the outreach from her home. She has converted her ENTIRE home to the ministry. Her home is filled with the most beautiful, abstract and yet spiritually inspired artwork all thru out the premises, even the ceilings. She is not an artist, yet theses paintings were all done by her. They ARE art gallery worthy. My question is: any ideas on how she can use her incorporation/ein status to open her facility as a gallery to draw more income for the outreach? She's thinking of having it open to the public for walk thru's, but how to get started? How to advertise? How to solicit support? How many channels will she need to go through?

NOTE-WAIT FOR A WILE FOR THE REST TO SHOW UP OK

a choice is a free action made by a person that causes the world to be one way rather than another.

We have examples of mechanistic "choosers" -- computer programs, for example, that execute decision trees. Those programs, although they "choose" in a sense, do not possess free will, because their choices are not "free". (Their "choices" are only analogous to ours.)

How can a choice be free? At least three things must be true:

A) The chooser must be the cause of an event,

B) The chooser must have been able to do something else, and

C) The chooser must have known that the result would likely occur.

Rogue Squire asked this question here:

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Am5ECsoGee5pj0nCkJNEqseGxQt.?qid=20070720231609AAywJWC

But it deserves to be here.

I'd nominate it for the Best Question of All Time.

Yahoo QA Philosophy's a finely tuned resource instrument for fleshing out fictional characters and for dialogue ideas a writer would be hard pressed to surpass.

I love it for those reasons. But, Rogue Squire gave me a deep belly-laugh appreciation for it I hadn't quite identified before.

Hasn't he found the secret bedrock of why we all secretly read these posts, once the facade of logic and ideas is stripped away?

Linger

Delay my leave
To obsolete
For it is not
My strength that lingers

I want tomorrow
Only if it is mine
But even the walls know
Dreams are for dreamers

I speak and I will
Not fail my word
Diversion is small
In a world so vast

Astound me
In plain sights
I see the value
The worth to linger

Oh but to use the word
In your favor
Is a deed not of respect
I’ll say desire

As I stay
In hopes of the same
If I walk ahead
Take thee step with me

Let us not linger
While the sun is still
A scorch distracts
But we stay to shade

What is it with Harry Potter book series? I don`t get it what makes it so special... I mean for kids yes... and imature teenagers but I know that some grown up`s like the book too. I mean it is not a mature book (I am refering to philosophy, and other things). So what makes it special?... I find it booring.

I'D RATHER BE A NOTHING

I'D RATHER BE A NOTHING
THAN BE A LIVING THING
THAT CAN BE HURT OR HURTFUL

I'D RATHER BE A NOTHING
THAN BE A LIVING THING
THAT IS GUARANTEED TO DIE
AND SEE MY LOVED ONES DIE

I'D RATHER BE A NOTHING
THAN BE A LIVING THING IN PAIN
AND FEEL THE PAIN OF THE ONES
I CARE ABOUT AS WELL

I'D RATHER BE A NOTHING
THAN HAVE A HEART FILLED WITH SORROW
AND WISH THERE WAS NO TOMORROW

I'D RATHER BE A NOTHING
THAN SUFFER FROM THE ANGUISH IN MY MIND
EVEN THOUGH I AM STILL KIND

I'D RATHER BE A NOTHING
AND ALLOW MYSELF TO DIE
SO I NO LONGER HAVE TO CRY
