Having directed AMND a number of times, I've cast both men and women in the role. It's probably one of the most flexible roles in Shakespeare. As the other respondent noted, Puck is technically a male (Robin Goodfellow), but this hasn't stopped a number of females from playing the role! Some of the best Pucks I've seen have been female, in fact, because there's nothing mandating his gender other than his name. So you could play Puck as a female, as a female playing a male, etc.

In Shakespeare's day, all actors were male--in fact, the final "play" by the rude mechanicals (Bottom and the rest of his crew) is a bit of a parody of this fact, with a male playing a female role (quite badly, I might add). So go with it... have fun... and make the role your own!

Puck is an imp and while classically is male (full name is Robin Goodfellow), can be played by a female. Puck is one of Oberon's minions. Oberon is the King of the magical folk, while Titania is Queen of the Fairies (who are female). So, you wouldn't be playing a fairy, as they answer to Titania and you answer to Oberon.

Being an imp, however, you can play the part in a rather gender neutral way. There is no reason as to why you HAVE to identify yourself as either male or female. Simply be an imp, and leave it up to the audience to decide whether they see you as male or female. It could give a rather interesting twist to the play.

Have fun and enjoy!

Star's answer is the best you have so far. You (Puck) are not a girl fairy. You are a boy spirit, follower of Oberon. You will be a girl playing a male spirit. That's all.
