Right, SCALES the mother of all guitar questions. Can someone explain to me in Layman Terms how to understand Scales, im really confused with Modes and various aspects of the scales, ive been learning the Major Scale for E.

I seriously want to learn scales and am finding it really hard to understand how to use them to my advantage. Any help would be great!

Hi

What software do you use to write? I don't like microsoft word because it picks out unnesseccary gramatical errors which I actually intended.

And notepad is not good for different fonts and styles.

Now, sometimes my writing goes slower than other times, but I have never come to a standstill. In fact, I always have two or three stories going on in my head. I can't imagine not being able to come up an idea or something. Sometimes, during the day I have trouble thinking how I want something to go, but as soon as I sit down at my computer, the ideas start to flow. It's really hard for me to relate to people who have writers block. I don't mean that in an insensitive way, it's just I have never experienced it. Some may say that I will experience it someday, but I have been writing for years--all my life, in fact. I have only been writing seriously for ten years, though. Let me know your experiences.

I'm stuck!!! I'm making 3x5 cards for a baby shower I'm planning. I want to put a poem on them that explains what the card is for. I want to keep it simple and to the point. The card is for each guest to write some well wishes for the baby and her future or some advice for the new mommy.

Any Ideas???

I have a friend who is extremely talented in Fine Arts. Likewise she is of above average intelligence. About a year ago she was terminated mutally from her father's business where she was the vice president. Anyway, after this happened she was telling me that all of the other employees were critical of her methods and ethics. She said, "You know, for some people perception is reality." I said yes and it works both ways. I'm not sure she liked my response. So when does perception cease to be reality? Is it when it's convenient for a party feeling scorned or unjustly accused is saying it? Is it when government tell us it's so or when a social worker says so? Or for that matter anyone who might have appointed authority for instance a crooked judge or cop? I look forward to any thoughtful responses.

we were discussing this in class the other day (college level world history) and my teacher said that if the Slave Trade never happened, Africa would have about twice the population it has today.
So I asked "how would that effect Africa, do you think?" (because we were doing a round of "what if" questions). Well nobody said anything so I said, "When I think of africa, the most dominant thoughts in my mind are war, genocide, mass rape, starvation, and poverty. If the population was twice what it is now, I'd imagine these things would be even worse, or that they would eliminate the extra population anyway."

Well my teacher acted like I was trying to justify slavery, so I got shut up real fast, but I wasn't trying to justify anything. I'm just saying that maybe alternative paths of history wouldn't have been much more shining bright and happy.

so anyway, what do you think would happen if the Atlantic Slave Trade never happened?
