My favorite, laugh-out-loud romance books are by Julia Quinn. They're "real" romances, complete with heaving bosoms etc., but you get the impression the hero and heroine actually like each other. I've read too many romances where it's hard to imagine the main couple ever laughing together. But Quinn's heroes and heroines always seem to build up some type of friendship along with their romance.

Her best are the Bridgerton books, a series of eight novels about the eight siblings in the zany Bridgerton clan. Quinn writes the humor between siblings very well. Even when they're arguing, or trying to kick each others' butts at croquet, you still know the Bridgertons stick together and that they all really love each other deep down.

You can even tell from the titles that these books aren't meant to be taken 100% seriously:
"The Duke and I"
"The Viscount Who Loved Me"
"An Offer from a Gentleman"
"Romancing Mister Bridgerton"
"To Sir Phillip, With Love"
"When He Was Wicked"
"It's In His Kiss"
"On The Way to The Wedding"

I've just finished reading Pearl Jinx by Sandra Hill - soooo much going on: an underground pearl expidition, an ex-Amish Navy SEAL, who's love interest is a crazed archaeologist - and an eccentric Cajun matchmaker named Tante Loulou who's specialties are St Jude and building hope chests.

She has the Jinx series, which is connected to the Cajun Contemporary Series (as far characters)

www.sandrahill.net - there's a video synopsis for Pearl Jinx which is a bit hoaky, but the book is fantastic.

I love Katie MacAlister's paranormal/humor/romance novels. She has a series about vampires and a series about a woman who becomes guardian of an alternate world with shapeshifters, fairies and other supernatural creatures.
