I think it depends on a few things. One, it depends on what you are using it for, to draw, to write a letter, to make a quick note. Also, take into mind the individual preference of each person in their personality. I like pens more because they are concrete and absolute whereas pencils can easily be manipulated.

Next, erasing is a huge issue with some people, especially for drawing/sketching. However, for others, pens are great drawing tools for a different and unique effect.

Lastly, I think that not many pay attention to what they prefer more, and will usually use whatever is available and decide that it is perfect for the job.

Pen looks nicer, but you cannot just erase a pen like you can a pencil.

It does not really matter.

I used to use a pencil when doing cross word puzzles and as I grew more mature, I found the confidence to only use a ball point pen.

depends what you're using it for. Pen is better for some things, pencil for others.

simply it doesnt matter.
it may matter about the mistake thing. but really, if its that big of an issue use an erasable pen.

so just choose which your more comfortable.
its really your choice.

i like to personally use mechanical pencils. because i hate the feel of a wooden pencil and i make mistakes often. so the feel of the mechanical [lead] pencil is pretty much my reason to vote for that one.

hope i helped,
Sophie
