Now, sometimes my writing goes slower than other times, but I have never come to a standstill. In fact, I always have two or three stories going on in my head. I can't imagine not being able to come up an idea or something. Sometimes, during the day I have trouble thinking how I want something to go, but as soon as I sit down at my computer, the ideas start to flow. It's really hard for me to relate to people who have writers block. I don't mean that in an insensitive way, it's just I have never experienced it. Some may say that I will experience it someday, but I have been writing for years--all my life, in fact. I have only been writing seriously for ten years, though. Let me know your experiences.

I don't mean that I'm writing pages and pages everyday. And I don't mean it in a bragging way. Somedays I may only get one page finished. I was only curious because there are many people on here that complain about writers block; I was just wondering how many people who also has never had it.

I have never had it where I couldn't write.

However, I had an "episode" when I was finishing up my BFA thesis (over 70 pages) and trying to write all the other 15-20page papers for my last semester of college. I just could not write well. I could put the words together, but my thesis advisor had completely destroyed my confidence in myself (he is a published poet, I was writing prose...it didn't gel). I could no longer look at my writing and tell what was wrong with it. I think not being able to look critically at your work is harder than not being able to write at all.

Lucky you! I have been writing for over 20 years and only in the last year or so have I had writer's block. Oh, I can write a page or two, but I find myself getting distracted. I think it is because my life is stressful right now (there is a lot of changes at work going on right now) Before I could write all the time, any time without a problem. Some people say it is normal and that I need a rest for awhile. But I want to finish my second book before summer and I've had writer's block for months! My advice, don't let stress get to you. It has definately affected my hobbies and until I get my work situation sorted out, I don't think I'll be able to write freely for awhile. Good luck!

I've had it plenty. Sometimes for a few weeks on end.

But I've just had a 2-week vacation from my work, and I'm back rewriting a second-draft novel of mine.

1,169 pages so far.

I usually take personal time off to give my mind a break from constant writing. That's slowed down the frequency of writer's block incidents that I've had over the last three years. And it's helped. :0)

"There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy."

Which is by way of saying that every possibility exists in the world, so of course there are people who have never experienced writer's block. My DH is one.

My advice, though, is to make sure your quantity doesn't overwhelm quality. There are no awards for writing the most stories ever. One really good one is better than thousands of bland ones. Make sure in the rocket of your creativity you allow room for constructive feedback and revision. Everything can always be better than it is. That's why Apple keeps making gobs of $. ;)

Good luck~
