Use your own knowledge and the sources below.
Source F: Part of an article in the Daily Mail, 25 May 1964
Mrs Mary Whitehouse, a schoolteacher, has launched a national campain to help writers who find it difficult to induce the BBC TV to screen their work. She said yesterday,"Authors who speak out strongly for the established Christian faith and write plays which inspire a sense of purpose and hope find it extraordinarily difficult to get their work accepted".
Mrs Whitehouse, 53, is founder of the Woman of Britain Clean Up TV Campaign. She added,"It became necessary because of the built-in censorship which the BBC exerts against much which is good and clean in our national culture".

Source G: Part of a biography entry for the singer Janis Joplin; this was published in the 1990s.
She was a rebellious teenager. She developed a powerful blues voice and sang in clubs in Houston the mid-1960s, before joining Big Brother and the Holding Company in San Franciso. She died of a drugs overdose in 1970.

I have an empty 3 litre Crown Royal bottle (flat sided) that I would like to use as a betta bowl. I will have to cut off the top to make it accessible for cleaning, feeding, etc. The part I will need to cut across is quite thick and not smooth. Is there a relatively easy and user-friendly way to do this? Please let me know...

This is my second gothish poem. Tell me what you think.

Title: Eternal darkness

As i bask in the sun of death it slowly takes me away

the wind of the eternally perished reins over me

and throws me into a dark frigid cellar that engulfs my weakened body

the cranking of the chains lifting me off the cold and unforgiving floor

as i dangle so helpless the rats gnaw the skin from my bare feet

my body aches as the life leaves my submissive tomb

and my lifeless corpse sways in the darkest of corners.

For some time, I've noticed how much slower I read than most of my friends. Being an English major in college, this really hinders getting my work done in a timely, non-stressful manner. Is there any techniques I can practice to teach myself to read faster?

You can work with someone for 20 years. You spent more time with this person than you have with your actual family. Why is it when they quit working with us we are able to accept it and move on so easily knowing we will probably never see them again? To me this demonstrates that we are the governors of our attachments and this basically means that when we have our hearts broken we were accessories to the crime.

if you can that would be good. This is for personal knowledge not for an assignement or anything so as simple as possible without losing the relevance would be good.

My dad died when I was 4 years old and there are no pictures of him. I know he had a passport. Is there anyway to get the passport information and the picture that was submitted? It would have been given out around the late 20's or 30's.

If so, to what extent?

I'm researching this question for a college paper, and was wondering what some "real" people think about this, to get some fresh ideas. I originally thought the essay would be, pick a movie and dissect what is true and false about it, but the prompt actually has us pick a movie and argue whether the director/writer are obligated to tell the historical truth about it and why. I chose Scorsese's 2004 film The Aviator on Howard Hughes life. Does anyone have any opinions on this in regards to The Aviator, or just in general what responsibility filmmakers have to tell the truth to the public regarding an event or a life?

If you can refer me to any articles or sites for reference, that would be great too!

First short question:
If you are trying to come up with ideas for a soft sci-fi book but are not a scientist or professor like you see questions about often, is it a sensible idea to write down what events you would like major science in and then research briefly to get an idea?

Second question:
Once you have come up with events that you would like to happen (I want a war or I want this type of ship etc) and reasons for why this character is doing what and why this has to be resolved etc, should you start typing straight away without any major structure to get one big bulge of ideas down in a short story, then fill in the gaps once you are clear about every detail for your plot, which will in the end turn out as the novel you wanted? Or plan, plan, plan, then type, type, type?

Hope people can help - also, feel free to add any other ideas, tips etc as well as answering a question; will be appreciated.
