I can remember a film which was a collection of short stories. One of these short stories was about a picture with a person in it. Every day the person moved closer and closer until one day they vanished and there was a knock on the door. Anyone know this, if I remember it was a black and white short story.

The other is apparently a well known book/story where a guy owns a painting of himself. The guy never ages but the painting does, the only way the guy would die is if he looked directly at the picutre.. If anyone knows their films the guy was in the film An Extrodinary League of Gentleman. But what is the book called and who wrote it, or is it a film?

The basic idea has been around since way back, for example the casket choice in The Merchant of Venice, but who thought of the question written down and a,b, c, d, with those little boxes?
